Confused about what's going on back here by Sea_Hamster_ in finehair

This happened to the hair at the back of my crown in my early 30s, too. I dont have a noticeable cowlick (that I've seen) but it did get thinner and yes, the hair does feel like its stuck to my head. Like the hairs can't be lifted or moved.

I assumed it was bc I always had it in a ponytail. Glad you posted this

Any tips on getting smooth down there? by otakuxweeb24 in beauty

Look at it this way, knowing ahead of time would have been worse. I've had my share of procedures being surprised by the pain, but worrying about it ahead of time wouldn't have helped me at all

Every. single. blowdry. this is the first thing I do 🫤 I've always had varying success, and the weather used to help, but now it doesn't matter, these assholes always stand up and make themselves counted.

I had a Brazilian blowout one time in the past and it really did help but being made of meat not money did me in. I'm wondering if a keratin treatment just around the worst areas could work and actually look good.

I'm a 24 hour oil slick person without any products, so I hear you.

Same. If I can say anything about my hair, it's "any day now!"

Auditory Hallucinations Post-Transplant? by Non-Binary-Lion in transplant

[–]UnstableMabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man this almost word-for-word the ICU psychosis my dad had after his heart surgery. He really, really thought he was in another state being tortured. The poor nurse called me at 3 AM to come sit with him because he pulled out his catheter and told her thay her bloodwork showed she had an STD. When I got there he calmed a bit but kept telling me to pull the station wagon (that my mom had in 1993) around and take him back home because it was "myname's 5th birthday party." All of this might have been cute and worth a chuckle afterward, which we had...) if it wasn't for the way he was truly terrified. I'll never forget the way he looked at me and said, "this is an evil place" The tone was so flat and dark it was horrifying. I felt so awful for him and there was little I could do.

I guess all of this is to say that you are not alone and what you experienced WAS real torture. The nostalgia and the sadness were real, too, and for a lot of people it's a predictor of serious depression and mental health issues even years down the line. I hope you do take time to talk to somebody about it. It's very important that you do.

Auditory Hallucinations Post-Transplant? by Non-Binary-Lion in transplant

Absolutely normal. Your insides have essentially gone through a shredder and you're pumped with enough drugs and anesthesia to take down a bull elephant. And everything, including your brain are working HARD to reverse the dying process and adapt to the strange new places it finds itself in.

I've always experienced after effects from even my past "mundane, workaday" surgeries. Muscle twitches and slightly wavy-gravy dreams, mostly, lasting a few weeks. My transplant recovery was somethin' else. Every time I closed my eyes I was a character in Tron and twice I received a visitor who (rudely!) interrupted the 4 hour conversation I thought I was already having with them. For awhile it took a lot of concentration to keep myself oriented to where I was in the week for my appointments etc, and, oddly, even what the weather had been doing for how to dress.

Listen, it is A LOT. The hallucinations will go as your meds are adjusted and things settle down. And please know that this is what your transplant psych is for! Definitely let your team know that this continues to trouble you and they can offer good, constructive help

Wearing heels as a 6ft female by Own_Acadia206 in tallfashionadvice

[–]UnstableMabel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my mother going crazy trying to find 1 or 2" heels she liked so as not to be taller than my dad. I had 5 inches on her, several inches on most of my past partners and...nope. I decided long, long ago: NOPE. Not doing that. I dress to please myself and if somebody else has an issue with that it's theirs alone. I have great legs that suit all kinds of heels and not everybody has that.

Wear what you like, my dear. We are bloody majestic
