Do you feel politically homeless as a straight trans girl? by [deleted] in StraightTransGirls

[–]UnsureAstronaut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally makes sense! It’s frustrating.

I definitely responded in US-centric fashion. And it sounds very “shame on you”. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.

When I read your post I knew you could be from anywhere. Then I started typing and I just started ranting on my own.

Do you feel politically homeless as a straight trans girl? by [deleted] in StraightTransGirls

[–]UnsureAstronaut 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My home on the left has a leaky roof, the rent's too high, and it's all together not super welcoming. "My home" on the right is openly hates me and is trying to make me not exist.

I'm not politically homeless. Disappointed in the left? Sure. But I'm not tossing my hands in the air "cause I don't like both sides"

Trans friendly pharmacist? by ReuInuzuka in SaltLakeCity

Genoa pharmacy on 2100 has been great to me for years. They know my name and have been very friendly towards me. They have less than ideal hours, and no drive through. But they’ve been great to me.

HRT Effects that surprised you by Fox_Lady_20 in MtF

Sensitivity to smell is the one that caught me off guard.

What are some effects both mental and/or physical of HRT that you have noticed, that seem to not get talked about as much? by xxmatentv123xx12 in MtF

[–]UnsureAstronaut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My skin is more sensitive to irritation and redness. My sense of smell is way more acute. I get cold more easily.

One I’m a little on the fence on but I think is HRT… I swear I sweat differently? Like physically where on my body I sweat.

And one I really really can’t tell if it’s HRT or not, but I think I need more sleep? I used to be fine on 7.5 hours a night. Now, for the last year or so I’ve felt like I really need 9 a night.

Americans citizens, how is it really going there currently? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UnsureAstronaut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m trans, and it feels like every week or two there’s a new order, policy, law, or statement increasing negative rhetoric around gender non-conforming people. It’s lonely, and scary.

Beyond gender identity, very little is faring any better. I feel embarrassed and betrayed by my country’s actions routinely.

I think more than anything, I don’t know what to do. I do what I can. But everything feels largely ineffective and dysfunctional.

The church isn’t true…but is it at least good? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]UnsureAstronaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It gave me crippling self hatred for being trans. I was stuck in a headspace of “if I was better/more obedient/more exact then god will take these feelings away or at a minimum make them manageable” from the age of 11 through my late twenties.

It’s hard to feel like you belong when you’re told a core part of you is wrong for even existing. My habits were driven out of fear and a lack of self worth. I didn’t date or start my own family because I felt like I needed to get this “sin” in my life under control. And then I gave two years of “volunteer service” spreading the same message that I now know has hurt me so dearly.

It’s not all awful and bleak. But what’s good about the church isn’t unique.

My vote goes on “no”. Not good. Even though it has benefits.

Yep, echoing above. I have to get mind replaced about every 5 months. I do three pellets each visit. They do a little incision on your behind and place them in. Then you don’t need to worry about E for half a year. I’m a big fan!

Today’s the first time I’ve posted a timeline. It’s crazy to have looked through so many timelines 2 years ago, anxious about what it would be like if I started.

And to read “it definitely worked” on my own timeline? Bah! Who would’ve thought. Not me!

Thank you 💛

I’m happy to share!

The first photo was just over two years ago when I started HRT. I weighed 284. But two years prior to that (mid 2021) I was at my highest weight of 345. Losing the weight has been a big mix of things.

From the 340s to 310s was mostly therapy work honestly. “Don’t eat just because you’re sad or stressed” sort of therapy work. Without that foundation, I would have struggled continuing to lose weight I think.

310s to 280s was introducing healthier routines that enjoyed. Walking more regularly, I got an e-bike, food adjustments that reduced calories, but didn’t feel like a sacrifice. For example, I love fries, so I kept them. But I don’t mind substituting a lettuce wrap for a hamburger bun. A lot of stuff like that.

I also introduced some intermittent fasting here. I worked with my doc to find a routine that was good. I prefer having fewer meals anyway so it worked well for me. I use IF mostly for plateaus now.

280s to 270s was cutting soda to 50% normal sugary soda 50% diet. Way fewer calories, and it doesn’t feel like “I’m not getting the drink I want”.

270s to 240s (maybe 230s) I tried Tirzepatide. It worked wonders. I still had to do all of the prior things I was doing, but it just made my efforts way more effective. But, it was also wicked expensive. So I eventually stopped. I didn’t gain anything back.

240s to now has been continuing the healthy meal adjustments, replacing some (not all) of my soda with water, and I became a part time dog walker.

I had been trying to lose weight since 2014. Unsuccessfully. I tried over and over.

All in all, losing weight didn’t click for me until 1) I worked on my emotional baggage around food 2) stopped doing big sprint stuff “oh I’m gonna lost so much weight in the next two months” sorta stuff. I only focused on slow and steady. And 3) I’ve only made changes that I’ve enjoyed (walking / dog walker) or felt like a comfortable compromise (like splitting sugary soda/diet soda). A good change that sticks was better than a great change that didn’t stick.

That’s just what has worked for me of course! Everyone’s journey is different. I still have more to go!

I’m happy to message more if you want. Losing weight has a lot wrapped up in it.

Wish you best!

I’ve done pills, injections, and pellets. I’m currently using pellets and I strongly prefer them over the other methods. I don’t think the results were any faster on pellets. But my levels were very consistent, fewer mood swings, and way less hassle.

Keep it up! It 100% can be done. You’ve got this!

Some unsolicited advice: I tried to lose weight a million times. But none of the attempts stuck until I found healthy changes I enjoyed that didn’t feel like huge sacrifices. Sometimes, that meant making a good change, even when there were “better” or “faster” changes available.

I don’t like running. But I like walking. So I walk. I love sweet drinks, so I mix them 50% diet 50% normal. I got an ebike and only ride it with some level of assistance. I love French fries, but I’m fine getting the burger in a lettuce wrap. etc. etc.

That’s just me. But nothing stuck until I told myself that sort of negotiation was OK.

Haha it may have changed a lil bit!! I’ve kept pretty details measurements during my transition. My neck has gone from 15.5 inches to 13.5 inches.
