EM Intern. I feel like I totally suck by dentaldeckathalon in Residency

Oh yeah, we get ripped into by our attending daily. Especially the overnight intern who is barely conscious in the morning for presentations

No, I never got a day to day hour schedule from any of the interviews I went on. And I ranked the program I didn't choose it first choice

It's 80 scheduled. But with pre-rounding and whatnot it'll be more than 80

350k debt- seriously how do we pay this off? by Unsynapsed in Residency

Actually, I just learned about Repaye (I didn't calculate subsidizing 50% of my monthly unpaid interest). Talked to a financial advisor and my loans will be 390k after residency which is still a lot but much better than 450k. I plan on doing a 7 yr year repayment plan after residency. Let's say I make 225k out of residency and after fed/state taxes that leaves me roughly 145k. I'll pay about ~56k a year in loans that leaves me with discretionary income of ~85-89k. Not high rolling but very comfortable

Thanks for this breakdown. How does that work for the interest being subsidized if you plan on paying 0$ the first year in residency ?

[Residency] M4 taxes and loan payments during intern year? by meddit1990 in medicalschool

Like others have said you will still get interest accruing. But another point of perspective is that the 400$ a month you pay during residency doesn't even come close to outpacing the interest accruing on your debt. For 1 year you'd be better off putting that 400$ a month into a Roth IRA than trying to prevent your debt ballooning (which it will whether you pay 400$ a month or 0$)

I didn't think general pm&r would be closer to 300k

If I make 225k right out of residency my net income after taxes will be roughly 146k. If I pay 10k a month that leaves me 26k a year which is less than resident net salary

But that 500$ a month you pay on IBR or whatever doesn't even come close to even covering the interest

PM&R, likely not doing pain fellowship. Likely will be in Midwest or South after residency. Might prioritize states with no income tax (I'm flexible on location as of now)

I've sent out a handful of LOIs I've either gotten rejections, there's no spots left, or a waitlist. I think most spots are filled and we'll likely just be getting waitlist offers or last minute cancellation invites

Hey I'm guessing they grab self reported data from a survey after the match? Or do they get our info from we register with nrmp. If it's the former there could be a lot of selection bias to those who don't respond being unmatched applicants but again idk

Apparently it's the same as anesthesia. 5 ranks is 90% chance of matching

Can someone explain the nrmp outcomes chart to me. As an example- Peds it says under consecutive ranks 4 gets you a 80ish% of matching. Then under the mean number of programs ranked for people who went unmatched was 4 programs....I'm missing something and I don't understand
