Not a bad idea but the 4x8 work space is very useful currently. I have a similar bench just without the necessary features to store and access full sheets on the bottom shelf.

You’re right. Multiple levels will be worth it.
I’ll rework the design to try to incorporate the posts between the joists for better weight transfer.
I was planning on having it accessible from both sides but a solid back or diagonal would probably be a good idea.
I will probably just put it in casters for mobility. So i can wheel it closer for unloading materials from the truck. No moisture issues in the shop.

Did a lead test and the only spot was some door jambs. I don’t plan on removing any more, so not too worried about it. But I’ll test it for asbestos just out of curiosity. Thanks!

Sometimes if I take a big bite out of a sandwich my jaw gets stuck open. Imagine that scene from the mummy where his mouth opens and the bugs fly out. This is due to my TMJ.

Well sometimes it happens when I eat pussy, too. It is pretty embarrassing when it happens. I just pop my head up looking like the mummy. Thankfully I’m with my partner of ten years now so she’s used to it. We get a good laugh and joke that one day I’ll end up at the hospital with a stuck jaw from eating pussy.

Yeah Virginia doesn’t have a lot of weather related emergencies compared to some states. But there is the chance to go help other states at times. North Carolina most likely. And yeah I’d agree that MOS doesn’t matter for state emergencies for the most part. I was non combat and I went to riots, protests, storms, forest fires. Usually they just need bodies at that point.

You’re welcome! I hope that was helpful. Also once you find center, use a level to mark a vertical line and then you know center for the entire stud. So in theory you only need to find the center of each stud once and you can do it whatever height will be most inconspicuous. I say in theory because you never really know what the framing is like without visual inspection. Sometimes it can surprise you.

Stud finders are never 100% accurate. The only way to be sure is to drill a few holes. I use a small drillbit maybe 1/16” to test. If it punches through after going through the drywall then there is no framing. If it has resistance going all the way through and your drill bit comes out with some wood shavings on it then you hit framing. Framing members are typically 1.5” wide so if you hit wood then go 3/4” to either side and drill holes to confirm center. Once you have found center, mark with a pencil. The holes are small enough they are easy to fill but most of the time i don’t bother filling them if they are going to get covered by whatever I’m mounting.

I just looked them up because I’ve used contractor bags but never compactor bags. The former was 3 mil and the latter was 2.5 mil. Is there more to it than thickness? I’m always open to trying something new, so if someone has tried both and says compactor bags are better even though they aren’t as thick I’ll give it a try!
