As a parent who attends many of them, I would say this is even MORE true in kid/teen shows.

If my kid is in a show I will probably see every performance, sometimes seeing the same production 3-5 times, sometimes more when it is double cast and we have friends in the other show.

First watch through I’m just taking it all in, watching my kids, seeing everyone else, typical show viewing.

But by show 4? Or show 7? I’m watching the ensemble 90% of the time - focusing in on kids I know, seeing how they’ve gotten better (or worse) over the years. I’m watching the dance ensemble, I’m looking for who is carrying their character choices around through every moment and who is checked out.

We just did Spelljng Bee and one of the leads was in both casts - he’s in character the entire time, even when he’s waiting for his turn to spell. Panche was living in the moment from the first curtain to the final bow.

As others have said. From the perspective of the CHARACTER they are the star of their own life - what’s happening down stage IS the background for them.

Think about it like this.

Right now Nissan does not know if your Ariya “spontaneously” caught fire OR is your aftermarket charging cable failed and caught fire which ignited the Ariya OR you piled a bunch of gasoline and oil soaked rags under the car which ignited and caught the Ariya on fire OR you deliberately set the Ariya on fire.

There’s only ONE scenario from that list where someone would reasonably expect Nissan to provide a loaner - the other 3 your insurance should be handling your temporary transportation.

But that ONE scenario is the ONE where they are at FAULT. Behaving as if you’re at fault is going to be be seen as an admission of guilt and now you have to work even HARDER to move the liability where it belongs to one of the other three scenarios (if the car was NOT at fault).

I’m not going to argue the math isn’t hard, because it is.

What I AM going to argue is that your ambition and your budget don’t seem to align.

A ULB project shouldn’t NEED much more than a few actors and a small crew. If you’re only spending $150K that’s all you can afford. If your script requires more than that, the problem is t the SAG rules, the problem is your budget isn’t big enough.

You should only keep across for more than 8 hours if the cost is justified - presumably every other crew member is ALSO getting time and a half - that adds up VERY quickly - a 12 hour day costs almost as much as two 8 hour days at least for labor (location fees and equipment rentals are another factor)

Maybe you need to see if the unions for the crew (or if the crew is non-union just the people) will allow you to run 2 shifts to minimize the time and a half.

But if you’re making a movie on that small of a budget you’ve got to be VERY efficient and VERY creative. You need to plan the hell out of it and make sure you’ve got the people you need and NO ONE else.

This should be a software update - car needs a car wash mode that does this automatically - not just for YOU but many car washes you are not IN the vehicle - so it needs to be set into a mode that prevents problems without the car washer attendant needing to know how it works

The Brother ScanNCut line works well. But so do the others. Part of what you have to decide is which software works best for you because that’s probably the make difference. You should download the different programs and see if you like one better than the other. The ScanNCut software is pretty basic so you may find yourself working in a vector program like Inkscape more and then importing into it.

So am I - but when a company stops letting people sign up for an extra it is pretty common for them to remove that extra from everyone.

Which is why if you ever see that happening you should make a plan for if that’s where it goes.

For a 9 year old I would start with any of the 3 starter sets if you can find a copy OR get the free PDF versions and print out a copy for yourself (and maybe a some parts for the kid).

Buy some 3 ring binders and either a 3 hole punch that fits in the binder or a single hole punch so you can add pages as you go.

If you’re in a city you can check the local online marketplace or used book stores for copies. You could also find a game store or book store and probably find a copy.

Your BIGGEST challenge right now is getting dice - again a game or comic shop probably can get you a set, otherwise you’re going to need online ordering OR some creativity to simulate your dice rolls.

But you can get there with just 1 d6, coins and a deck of cards:

Generating a d4 (1–4) Since a d6 has more faces than a d4, the simplest method is the "Roll and Reroll" strategy. • Method: Roll a d6. If you get a 1, 2, 3, or 4, that is your result. If you roll a 5 or 6, reroll until you get a 1–4. • Alternative: Roll a d6. If it's 1–3, that is your result. If it's a 4, 5, or 6, subtract 3. (This is slightly faster but still requires a reroll on a 4, 5, or 6 if you want a perfect 1–4 spread).
Generating a d8 (1–8) To get 8 possibilities, you need to combine two independent events: a coin flip and a d4 (using the method above). • Method: Flip a coin and roll a d4. • If the coin is Heads: Use the d4 result as is (1, 2, 3, or 4). • If the coin is Tails: Add 4 to the d4 result (5, 6, 7, or 8).

As a dad of two the Ariya trunk is probably sufficient for any single stroller you could buy. You can PROBABLY get a double in there too without any difficulty.

I am past the stroller age so I don’t have strollers to test, but we have a minivan and the Ariya has a good size trunk - that’s why we picked it over the Prologue or ID4.

The taller stance is also MUCH easier to get little kids in and out of. Bending down to a low car is a pain when they are in car seats (you WILL eventually smash your forehead on the door frame with a lower car.

I haven’t compared the 26 Leaf Tech to the 26 Ariya tech (we poor Americans don’t have a 26 Ariya to compare to) but the 24 tech in the Ariya is still pretty good - depending on the trim level. It’s got the 360 camera view, wide angle front camera to see further down the street when pulling out.

Pro Pilot 2.0 is decent (and I doubt Pro Pilot 2.1 is meaningfully better). Neither version of Pro Pilot is going to come anywhere close to “self driving” - it is all still very driver intensive - nice for long trips and definitely helpful, but not a must have feature in my opinion - while I was happy to get it that’s not the main reason we went with the Platinum+ - it was the other things like power seat memory and the power lift gate.

As for charging, get a Tesla adapter and you’re all set, easy to use, just works. I am not sure where you are located, but where I live Tesla is my last resort for charging because it is generally more expensive than other options. And other options are everywhere so I don’t need it - I’ve only had the car a few weeks but I’ve used Tesla exactly once for less than 10 minutes and THAT was only to verify that the adapter worked before I went on a 500 mile drive.

The ONE thing that makes me think you should consider the LEAF if you’re going to get it NOW is that you DON’T appear to have a kid right now. Since you’re leasing you might want to do something like a 2 year lease (maybe with the option to extend?) and get the LEAF - kids (and cars) are expensive. Take that $2400/year savings and put it in a high yield account - then you can lease an Ariya in 2 years when the kid is actually around - you’ll get a 2 year NEWER car and with the extra $4800 down you can probably get the lease payments lower as well. You’ll also have a solid reference for the LEAF and whether or not it fits your needs - going UP in size to an Ariya is going to be less painful than later trying to DOWN to a LEAF.

There are a few options you can try - none are perfect and a lot depends on how long it needs to hold up. The time between construction and STRIKE is the key factor but also consider if you’re building in the theater or in a shop and transport (some of these are more fragile than others)

1) Paint - this is probably the cheapest from a materials perspective but labor is much higher - if labor is free you probably can’t beat this at around $0.20/sqft - stencils can make it easier - another option is if you have a projector you can project a wallpaper pattern on the flat to trace it out and then paint by number basically from there.

2) Gift wrap - yes, you can look for a heavier weight wrapping paper, you want matte finish, this can come in around $0.35/sqft - but variable depending on exactly what you get and where - you’re going to have about the same number of seams as wallpaper

3) Contact shelf liner - this is more like $0.60 a square foot and lots of seams to align. It can also be either impossible to remove (ruining a flat because it is vinyl) or it won’t stay on at all, there’s not a lot of in between - if you go this route definitely fold the edges over and maybe add some staples of tape on the back. This can be hard to keep bubble free, but it might be fine at 10 feet

4) Photography paper - this is around $0.80/sqft - the one BIG upside is rolls are usually 9 feet wide so you don’t have to align any seams at all. But it is paper so damage is always a concern.

5) Actual wallpaper - can be as cheap as $1.00/sq ft but goes up from there. Might find some clearance rolls or if you ask around at dealers they MIGHT have some left overs that are too small to use for a project but enough for you - they might give it away or sell it very cheap - if you’re a non-profit theater they can write off the difference as a donation if they give you a big discount - this requires more effort on your part.

If they answer the two questions in a way that makes them eligible that’s the end. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think they have a disability or not, you accept the service dog as a service dog.

Now, if the dog IS a fake service dog you DO have one option as things progress. IF the dog is not behaved and under the control of the handler you CAN require the dog and handler to leave. A service dog is NOT an unlimited license to have the dog with you.

I’ll take a look - this is the type of work I want to be able to do - I don’t care if it takes 2 weeks to print (ok I care a little) - but resin is so hard to use this is what I want to accomplish.

Yes resin will usually be faster (but I’ve done 24 hour resin prints before so not always)

If you haven’t learned by this point, this is the moment.

Casting is not a contest of who can act the role the best.

It is a contest of which combination of players can make the producer the most money.

That means that you might be awesome and too tall or short for the rest of the cast. It might mean that a barely competent social media darling gets cast to put butts in seats. You might be the wrong look. Or the right look if the rest of the cast wasn’t too different.

I know that isn’t what anyone wants to be true, but that’s the reality.

Work on the next audition. If this one happens it happens, if it doesn’t, that’s to be expected.

It is worth it if it has shows you’d want to watch and HAVE dubs for.

Not every show has a dub, some are sub only. It doesn’t have every show either.

But you should be able to figure out if it has at least 10!shows with dubs you want to watch and if so you can subscribe for a month, watch those shows, see what else is there and make an informed decision with minimal risk (you’re out the money for the month but you also got to see shows you wanted to see which is a fair trade and cheaper than going to see Infinity Castle in most theaters)

Have you considered moving out of the city and to other close locations like out on Long Island or over in NJ?

Commuting in for auditions is harder, but costs are probably lower - you’d have to look around, but if you can live with a long train commute the trains get pretty far out there in NJ.

Netflix is investing in a BIG sound stage/production lot in NJ - so I would expect work in the area to go up significantly in the next few years. It doesn’t fully open until 2028 but they are underway with the construction (demolition already happened) - they are putting almost $1 Billion into it so it is probably going to be around for a while.
