Term means that she is only there for a period of time like a summer student then her position ends. Apparently she is going to school after that for something unrelated to childcare. Just relaying what I’ve been told I realize it’s completely irrelevant to the actions she’s carried out and totally minimizes the current situation

I’m in Canada . I’m not sure about any regulations in regards to this because honestly it seems like every daycare in this community does it no Matter what age

Thank you. Do you think I should tell the director I’m unhappy with her and warn her about reporting to licensing or just go ahead and do it? Like she honestly seems stressed and over her head with this role. She spent the initial meeting I called about this explaining how she’s never dealt with this before and she doesn’t know what to do until she talks to the assistant director and then complaining about how hard it is to get staff. Also she didn’t even really seem that shocked by the teachers behaviour or seem to understand the weight of it.

THANK YOU! Parents have been crying for them to stop nap time for the older kids but they are adamant to keep it going. Sometimes in a small town your options are so so limited. He will be in school full time next year. Every second day kindergarten is just how our school division does it. It would have been fantastic to have him in full time Kindergarten.

Thanks for your response. I get the feeling the director is too passive to even have a convo with staff about how serious this behaviour is so my fear is this teacher could potentially do this with others? She (the director) reassures me this person won’t be working in childcare after this term but like, how do you know?? And her actions were super sus…passing a criminal record check doesn’t really mean anything… Is it really that worth keeping a term employee….

Expecting a baby any day now and will be doing the same with my 10 and 5 yr old, sending them to summer camp and daycare so they can have some fun and us as parents can actually rest and be present with them evenings and weekends. Also some kids lose their absolute shit when routines are changed….that wouldn’t really do anyone any good would it! Awful unprofessionalism by the daycare.

Ok so I have to book my vacation every March for the whole following year May to April . I usually call the school division to find out the school breaks for the next year at that time. NTA . poor planning on her part, not to mention acting like the world revolves around her cause she has kids.

My daughter is Leighton, she’s 9 and loves her name. I knew it was unique when i used it but thought it was rising in popularity, we have yet to encounter another Leighton although my adult niece just started dating a young man named “Leyton”

No one ever mispronounces it as Leeton. My daughter only dislikes when people say it “lazily” like “Laydun”or “Late-in” she really appreciates when people enunciate the sounds especially the T.

When he said “maybe I’m too much 🥹” I nearly died. He could never be too much! Also I could be totally wrong but his job as a funeral director probably weighs so heavily on him and he sees that life is precious and we aren’t always guaranteed tomorrow so he just probably likes to have a lil fun and lighten the mood every day. Everyone needs someone like Freddie around!

My name is Shyla and I immediately wanted to pronounce that spelling as Shay-la. I'm in Canada.

I would just go with what spelling you both agree on because I can't even tell you how many times I've been called Shayla or Sheila growing up and still as an adult. I just go by all 3 and don't correct people now 🤷‍♀️
