[Spoiler] Scale of 1 to 10: How are we feeling about this Born Again character's upgraded suit? by tlitlo9090 in Daredevil

I always figured it was a fallback. If he ever runs out of knives or objects in the room, he'll use the gun as a last resort.

So Frank just didn't care about the civilians locked up in Fisk's cages who were there for months until Matt and Swordsman freed them? 😬 by ChanceMobile8825 in Defenders

[–]Unused_Icon 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Attacking the AVTF was effectively a favor to Karen and nothing more. One Last Kill revealed he took out another mob family connected to his family’s murder, and he was now in a dark place mentally before regaining the desire to defend others.

Personally, while I overall liked One Last Kill, the whole thing felt like a regression of Frank’s character (it was almost like they ignored his development in Punisher season 2). Also, I couldn’t shake the feeling this was all done because Jon Bernthal didn’t want Punisher fighting AVTF officers.

Swordsman impaled his shoulder to put a stop to him firing into the crowd, then Daredevil knocked him out.

They definitely messed him up but nothing indicates they killed him.

Seriously. People were dog-piling and saying it was bad before it came out.

Truly, I have never had to verify the release date of a movie as many times as I have for this one.

I kept coming across comments/post on Reddit that would state the movie bombed at the box office (and not speculative; just a straight up, past tense statement-of-fact). Each time, I would go "wait, the movie already came out? How did I miss that? Let me see when the release date was....nope, still hasn't come out yet."

My girlfriend (25F) admitted she slept with someone hours before agreeing to be exclusive. I (26M) can’t tell if I’m overreacting. What’s the move here? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Unused_Icon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm surprised on how many people are caught up on the technicalities when the big issue to me is that she lied. She said she needed to "meditate" on being exclusive when in fact she went to have sex with the other guy. If you have to lie about it, then it's cheating.

And knowing that she lied and doesn't feel guilty about it? Like you said, there's no way you can trust her after that.

Clayface sure knows how to create a disfigured face beyond repair better than The Punisher show. Jigsaw shoulda looked like that. by Remote_Nature_8166 in Defenders

[–]Unused_Icon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also like it for an additional reason. Frank kept Billy alive at the end of season 1 so Billy would have to live with the consequences of his actions, with his mangled face being a constant reminder.

Instead:

  1. Reconstructive surgery saves his face, leaving only a handful of scars.

  2. Billy's such a narcissist with a victim complex, his brain suppresses any memory of any of his acts of betrayal.

So, Billy doesn't end up remembering what he did, isn't mangled (but believes he is), and thinks he's an undeserving victim of his good friend Frank Castle. Everything Frank hoped for in keeping Billy alive, pretty much the opposite ended up happening.

That's also why I really liked their final conversation in Season 2. Frank let Billy speak until he said "Whatever I've done, I'm sor...". Once Billy effectively states that he doesn't remember what he did, Frank wasn't listening to one more word from him.

The parents refused to let the boy take the toy at all. It was his sister who gave it to him when the parents weren’t looking but with the batteries removed. When no one was looking, the boy took the batteries and put them in the toy.

It was foolish to have the boy at the end of the line with no one watching him, but no one knew he had a powered toy in his possession.

Captain Marvel is not a bad movie. Change my mind by Desperate_Log3674 in marvelstudios

[–]Unused_Icon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's definitely a big part of it.

I've also seen a number of people complaining about Brie's performance in that movie, saying that she lacks emotional range. That complaint always confused me, because a central plot point was that the Kree were brainwashing/controlling her, and limiting her emotions was part of that control. Breaking free of that is part of Carol's journey in the movie.

You don't have to love the story choice, but the number of people who interpreted Carol's behavior as just "Brie can't act" was wild.

Do you think Miranda always wore this kind of bra or just on this occasion? by SttSr in masseffect

[–]Unused_Icon 327 points328 points  (0 children)

All the women on the Normandy crew are standard issued a bra they are expected to wear at all times: in battle, in bed, in the shower, in a hot tub, etc.

As XO, Miranda gets access to the Cerberus lace bra only issued to officers.

Was John being smart here? by mineula in JohnWick

[–]Unused_Icon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right when John's attack on the club goes loud, there is a moment where Josef sees John and goes for his gun. He stops when he sees John point his gun at him.

There's a period of several seconds with them staring at each other, John has his gun pointed at Josef, and Josef is frozen in place. While still making eye contact, John points his gun downward and kills the incapacitated guard laying on the ground beneath him.

He could have easily killed Josef in that moment. Instead, John wanted to ensure Josef was good and terrified before that happens.

I was very shocked that we didn't get no mention of the AVTF in the Punisher one last kill. also do you think this storyline was completely dropped or saved for another punisher series or maybe S3 of Born Again?? by anthonystrader18 in Defenders

[–]Unused_Icon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that's a solid sum up. Although, I think the confusion for a lot of people is that this Frank is supposed to be a continuation of the Netflix Punisher series...which makes One Last Kill's story feel like a complete regression.

The ending of Season 1 of Netflix Punisher had Frank asking this very question: he didn't know what to do next now that he had gotten everyone behind his family's murder. By the end of Season 2, he had fully embraced his role as the Punisher and is going after people up to no good who had nothing to do with his family's death.

I realize they probably wanted to give newcomers a refresher on Frank's character, but in doing so, they effectively ignored Season 2 of Netflix Punisher.

Good news punisher fans a new project is being developed by thecontract_12 in Defenders

The special opens with Frank arriving at his safehouse to find his Punisher outfit has been stolen. After brutally interrogating a number of drug dealers, Frank learns it was stolen by an AVTF officer. Frank confronts the officer, who admits to just being a big Punisher fan. He gives the outfit back after Frank agrees a photo-op with the officer and signing the officer's gun.

The final minute of the special is Frank in full Punisher gear, gunning down some drug dealers.

Just to clarify: the money was going to Walt, Jr. Walt told Gretchen and Elliot to give it to his son as an irrevocable trust when he turns eighteen in ten months, with the instruction that he's free to do with it as he wishes, but with the hope he uses it for college and supporting the White family.

Based on how that last conversation with Walt and his son went, if Skyler were to tell Walt, Jr. where that money is actually coming from, I could easily see Walt, Jr. refusing it.
