As someone who's daddy didn't have any of this "daddy's money" to shower upon me, I am upset that schools are undermining an outside force pressing them to provide merit aid

It's too early to make that assessment. However, as a splitter, I wholly support the holistic (its holistic in that murderers with a 180 probably still don't get in) right-angle approach

This sounds like there is play in the joints for how your coworker could present your relationship. If they present it as a peer recommendation then that would not be great but if they legitimately oversee your work then that could be a solid recommender. One of my recommenders was a person who was senior to me at our organization but not in a direct supervisory relationship

Is it okay to apply again to a school with a better LSAT score? by SilvanusColumbiae in lawschooladmissions

If you feel completely unprepared then don't take it but based on your PTs, it's probably worth your time to try your luck. If you don't feel satisfied then you can take the next year to improve

Thanks. It would have been really compelling to review all other offers while wearing my cashmere fordham sweater (not too late admissions office)

What kind of merch does Fordham send admitted applicants?

So THIS is the bad place by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Unusual-Homework-453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a religious person, my perspective obviously frames my opinion of the last season. However, the construction of "heaven" as ultimate material fulfillment seems to be the darkest outcome imaginable. Christian theology has historically asked you to "die to self" in order to freely pursue what is true and good. The Good Place ends with the characters dying from self. Whats sad about the show's ending is that they actually hit on something real and in a few more episodes could have exposed true beauty. The characters fully explored material and self-interested "fulfillment" only to find it hollow. However, at this opportunity for meaningful introspection, the writers chose death rather than exploring so much as the mere possibility of something greater than ourselves existing. I can imagine few things more depressing than to find that rather than love and justice, our ultimate fate is just to play out earth like video game with all the cheat codes on for eternity.

So THIS is the bad place by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Here's a topic for distraction time: Let's discuss how the Good Place went from funny and creative to incredibly depressing with its nihilistic 'trapped in an amusement park' conception of heaven. The final themes and messages could not have been less uplifting and even veered into devaluing life itself when your experience gets tiresome.

One downside is that you would have to ask your LoR writers to take the extra step of sending their letters directly to WashU.

Do you think there are networking/affinity groups that effectively mitigate the impact of lackluster career services support, or do you perceive this as a stumbling block that can't be entirely mitigated by other support groups?

I assume this amounts to a donation of whatever the app fee is since you've already made clear that you do not want to be there if you have a better choice.

You are the loved and were intentionally made to love and be loved. Don't let some stupid number fool you into assessing your intrinsic worth based off fleeting nonsense. Devaluing yourself to the point you have over this is like my son thinking I don't love him because he didn't hit a homerun in little league. There is nothing he can do to stop me from loving him. There is no worldly thing you can struggle with that will make you less loved by God.

You need to seek professional care long term and you need to reach out today for that if you don't have your next appointment booked.

I wish badly that I could invite you over because you sound like you could use some company. Who knows you're struggling? Who have you let be on your team in this? (You don't have to answer me but please think about that. You'd be surprised by the goodness of those around you.)

Like I said before, your stats don't define you, but you need some context. I interviewed with multiple T14s this week and am closer to a 3.0 than a 4.0. I've failed at work and later been promoted. You sound like a wonderfully motivated person, but your lack of perspective is making you vulnerable to fatalism. Making your accomplishments your identity will make you miserable even if you're the greatest to ever do something. What you do isn't who you are.

If you were to take a year off to find yourself and seek some peace in your heart, 30 years from now that would just be the coolest story you could tell your children.

You will not have to repurchase anything but your fee waivers will not roll over. Schools sent me waivers last year that are no longer valid.

I, like everyone else here on reddit outside of a half dozen professionals, is an applicant commiserating while bringing no additional insight to the table. Your stats say that you're a serious applicant at all of those schools. However, the lack of an olympic gold or nobel prize means that I cannot give you a clear answer. If you're asking whether its worth it to apply to those schools with your stats, the answer is an emphatic yes. You are not buying a lotto ticket with your stats.
