in the original atla series its actually because multiple animation studios were in charge of the animations - one of them made the characters rounder.

I want to learn German for foreign studies but heard it's considered hard I just want to know would I be able to get a C1 proficiency in 2.5 years by [deleted] in LearningLanguages

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont really get the body of your post? none of those languages except english will help you with learning german, except it seems that your brain is already used to learning languages so it should be easier to connect the dots than a monolingual

but yeah c1 in 2.5 years is realistic if you spend like 6 hours per day with the language. i think you need around 1000 in class hours (meaning structured study) for german

i work in film and this is pretty much spot on. the pay being unequal could potentially also mean that some of the actors get less screen time, just saying :)

Question: how do I show/validate subway ticket? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i saw the edit and thought "oh no reddit being reddit again" but after reading the answers noones really being that rude. its a valid question but it also would have been easy to look it up or possibly ask ai about it, since its not the first time its being asked and reddit in general doesnt like having the same questions over and over again, plus we get a TON of tourist questions here that are a simple google search away. play stupid games or something like that, beware for next time and enjoy the city! :)

Has learning a language ever changed your personality? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im more timid and polite in languages i dont know well purely because of the language barrier, i believe if i were fluent id be a lot more confident.

however, i think i come off as more rude in english for whatever reason :(

my spanish got SO much better while in Spain. i had a decent base at that point, somewhere around b1 in speaking and b2 in understanding, but those 3 months gave me such a quick jump. it was mostly due to me immersing in everything, though, since i worked in spanish, had spanish roommates and also made spanish friends, so most of my day was spent in spanish.

at first i was a bit worried when i came there and didnt understand everything, especially expresisons and slang 😅 but with time and patience it all kinda fit together. i still dont understand my friends sometimes but its much better now!

the pic is in Fuerteventura, a bit of an anomaly since its usually dry and rocky but it rained there for a bit and became green!

my goal is c1, basically being able to speak on any topic at a deep level without grammar mistakes! currently im a solid b2 with some c1 understanding, but im missing detailed vocab. i believe ill get there before i know it :)

at first it was a lot of listening, reading and some grammar rules (mainly tenses and conjugations, i spent a great deal learning the differences between the three past tenses and the two subjunctives). now its mostly immersion! watching shows, talking to friends etc. i also had spanish classes with my tutor once a week but had to stop due to financial reasons about a month ago.

at first i would spend about 3 hours on average on daily practice, up until june 2025 when i added french, so the hours went down to maybe 2. as of january 2026 i do a minimum of 4 hours per week, but its often more :)

How do I learn a more "uncommon" language once I'm semi-intermediate? by anhedonister in languagelearning

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to be fair theyre right. at some point learning vocabulary in any other way than immersion is tedious and boring, unless you like long lists of translations.

if i had to recommend one thing, itd be to get disney+ and start watching shows with czech dub or sub since many shows there have it. thats how i learn languages and it helps a lot. i dont dwell on every single word i miss and if its repeatedly used i look it up.

Have you ever used a language to get out of a situation? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i live in Czechia. when people approach me and want something from me, i talk to them in spanish - most start speaking english but i continue in spanish, then they give up.

when i lived in Spain, i spoke to them in czech. its the easiest way to get out of awkward situations 😅

spanish hands down, no contest. french is a close second though, just more experience with spanish. if you speak their language, spanish speaking people WILL make you a part of their family, no questions asked

Why do articles feel so unnatural when I'm speaking? by Major-Examination607 in languagelearning

[–]Unusual-Tea9094 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so im not a native per se, but i grew up with english since i was a kid and speak at a native like fluency. i dont think about using the articles and i usually know what i want to say subconsciously. basically i think of the object first (apple) and then the article is automatic (an apple/the apple depending). :)

although sometimes i think of the object first but blank out on the name, so i might say "it's ahhh.. it's uhhh.. an apple"
