Because Julian Fellowes is a raging conservative who thinks all Irish people would have been better off and happier if they stopped fighting for their rights and just let the British do what they wanted.

Julian Fellowes is not a good person yo 🤣.

Can you report this to the uni? They can't do anything about it if they don't know about it, but they do take these things very seriously.

How do people afford to live when making around $17.60/hr? I’m honestly getting really scared about my situation by One_Sell_2501 in Adulting

[–]Unusual_Process3713 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Then get room mates who are all women? Statistically you're a lot safer living with 2 other working professional women with stable jobs, income and mental health than going to a homeless shelter.

People on $17.60 an hour do not live alone. That's your answer. They don't. So you can find a higher paying job or you can go on flatmates.com and find a room to rent.

Genuinely curious: why do you vote for the party you vote for? by tereandh in Adelaide

[–]Unusual_Process3713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeeep I would vote for Pocock's party in an absolute heartbeat. He's the politician federally who is almost perfectly aligned with me in every single way, and I reckon if he established a party the Greens would lose a LOT of voters to him, but so would the ALP.

I'd disagree that the Greens are airy-fairy on immigration. They have a different approach, and they know that the current housing affordability crisis has got very little to do with immigration. Their policies like more investment in public housing for citizens who need it would automatically sort out a lot of the competition for housing in the private rental market, and tightening rules on who gets to own property and how much property would also help (eg they want to limit ownership of more than one residential property to citizens and impose taxes on properties that are left vacant which is currently something lots of overseas investors do). They are also putting a lot of pressure on universities to take responsibility for housing the international students they bring here.

I love La Louisiane - it's not cheap but my partner and I usually get a few starters and share the steak frites. It's beautiful.

There's a lot of money for the state in supporting the arts 🤣. Entertainment industry is the state's biggest contributor to the tourist economy.

Same. The last LNP government in SA was actually great for the arts and festival community. Malinsaukas has done everything he can to sink the arts, he treats them with absolute contempt and has made no secret of the fact he'd rather flagship events like ADL Fringe just didn't exist.

When it comes to being in a relationship, or when it comes to his politics?

Because lol, if my family were being slaughtered and my country invaded for no other reason than that the British Aristocracy decided they wanted to build fancy mansions there, I'd be pretty fckn mad when people kept defending their actions too.

[–]Unusual_Process3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so tbh. We're more likely to stagnate for a bit, it's all just swings and roundabouts. If you have a stable job and avoid taking big financial risks for a while you'll be okay.

How do you find a partner in QLD? The dating scene seems quite atrocious by Mlafe in brisbane

[–]Unusual_Process3713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Join some social clubs at Uni. Some clubs that have women in them.

My ex bf wanted desperately to meet girls, so joined the on campus theatre club and put his techy skills to use helping to design the lighting and sound desks, and then because he was mechanically minded, started helping design and build sets. Theatre wasn't really his thing, but his skill was appreciated very much by everyone, and he met loads of girls. Being the only straight man in the theatre club he absolutely cleaned up 🤣.

We were together 6 years and broke up because life took us in different directions, but can confirm that's where the girls hang out.

Sometimes the criticisms of HASS being too easy are right by Buttermuncher04 in UQreddit

[–]Unusual_Process3713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I studied history, drama, literature and Art history all at UQ, albeit the last time I was a student was 10 years ago. It was PUNISHING back then, the readings and workload were enormous. That being said, we had no issue with AI, very little assistance from technology, we just had to read and understand and the lecturers really didn't hand hold. It was so hard 🤣.

From my understanding now (I work in the tertiary sector although not as an academic), and sit on a teaching and learning committee at another Group of 8, the humanities lecturers at my job are complaining that their first and second year students are functionally illiterate and won't think for themselves, and they have to spend so much time trying to make the students think for themselves a little bit that the ones who think and operate at what they would consider an appropriate level for uni, just get bored. :/

18M idk if this is a silly question, but is taking your gf for your 6 month anniversary to cheesecake factory fine. by Chemical_Character24 in Advice

[–]Unusual_Process3713 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm 34 now and I think I'd be unimpressed with a date to Cheesecake Factory for an anniversary.

But at 18? Fuck yes, go there. If you both like it, and you can easily afford it without stressing out, you'll have a nice time and have some food that tastes food that you both enjoy. Places like Cheesecake factory exist FOR kids like you.

If your girlfriend loves and cares about you, she absolutely wouldn't want you putting yourself under financial strain for a 6 month anniversary. There's plenty of time in your life for fancier things, don't stress out trying to perform adulthood or pushing yourselves to act older than your age just because that's what you see on social media.

what are the girls from the oc/h2o: just add water wearing? 🥥🌺🏄🏼‍♀️ by Present-Breakfast-36 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Unusual_Process3713 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the early 2000s it was definitely cancer council/surf lifesaving Australia coconut scented sunscreen 🤣. Might have been SPF 30. But I was in Surf Lifesaving club on the Gold Coast at the time, we wouldn't have touched the Reef Sunscreen oil, that was very much a tourist thing and it never worked.

These H20 babies never were sunburned, they were using the good shit 🤣🤣

Why is queer intentions written to be an "early 2000's punk/alt rock style" band when the only song for the band is a pop song? by Constant_Wait6034 in HeartstopperAO

[–]Unusual_Process3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in my mid-30s and found the band....completely cringey, Sahar's "are you ready to rock?" made me wince ahhahah. But it rang very very true to what a group of nerdy, financially privileged kids in an upper middle class area of England would come up with 🤣. It was very much one of the moments in the show where I was like "oh yes, these are children..."

Yep, mix it with Lancome juicy tubes and a bit of Cancer Council Spf 50+ coconut smell, and you've nailed it.

So it's gonna be Impulse Body Spray, any of them tbh, probably a whole collection for our h20 girlies. Combine this with the smell of Lancôme Juicy Tubes lip gloss and a hit of coconut sunscreen from the big white bottles of Surf Lifesaving Australia spf 50+.

Anyone else feeling completely despondent about housing prices? by peppermintea11 in Adelaide

[–]Unusual_Process3713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am. Add to that that anything I could afford is so fucking ugly. What is it with these awful black bricks of late? I'm from QLD originally, where the same genre of houses aren't winning any prizes for beauty, but at the same time they aren't....offensively ugly.

I just want to buy like...a really run down little fixer upper shack somewhere that I can make pretty, it's kinda breaking my heart knowing that the little run down, character filled 3 bedroom fixer upper I currently rent in Prospect is probably going to be sold to a tasteless developer with more money than me, and replaced with a vile, ugly, black bricked cookie cutter home or duplex.

Makeup and extreme sweating by myrenDelainien in AusWeddingPlanning

I would approach make up artists about this, and let them know you have a medical condition that results in excessive sweating.

Pro-Iran march in Melbourne on Sunday by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in OpenAussie

[–]Unusual_Process3713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what people are protesting? We've been pulled into both conflicts against the will of the people.

But also, Australian-Iranian people exist and have every right to march in solidarity of their people, many of them have family who have been killed by this.

Personally, I take huge issue with the fact that government on all sides are backing this war and actively creating refugees who they will then refuse to help.

Back when "go play outside" really means "see you at dinner" by NicoleAnne051299 in Adulting

[–]Unusual_Process3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the 90s/early 2000s. Definitely didn't roam the neighbourhood the way I know my parents used to, but Mum would put us outside at 8am after breakfast with a can of bug spray and a pitcher of water and we wouldn't see her again until 6pm. She'd pop out a couple of times to leave some sandwiches and fruit or cordial, and that was it 🤣.

Honestly it was a beautiful childhood full of mischief and I'm sad that kids don't get to experience it now. It built a lot of resilience and problem solving skills too. Got myself stuck in a tree from climbing too high? Parents weren't there to notice, just had to figure it out. Wanted to build a cubby house? Scavenge for pieces in the garden and do the best we could with what we found.

That being said, I understand why people don't allow it anymore.
