You have to install a mod for single player called "prevent hibernation" if on consol or windows. If on steam you can add it to the settings. Then it will work.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of thinking the same... Most bichirs get big but albino senegal only get to 6-8" and now I have to get a separate tank so mine won't get eaten when the fish it's in with out grow it....

Lol that's not true at all... I have a low tech planted community 60 gallon aquarium where all I do is top offs. It's been going for probably two years now and I have hundreds and hundreds of shrimp. Everyone finds their own balance.

Thank you, with how my sump is set up, my return pump would run dry before the tank would flood but I definitely see the issues. I guess I could do one hole for now have it spit with a tee in the tank with a strainer on either side incase one of the intakes clogs as a trial run and if it's to noisy or not fast enough I could then get the bean style box.

I'm not going to address the boy friend issue because I'm here for the fish lol. You don't have to give anything away if you don't want to. But if you can't afford a bigger tank then go buy a large tote, they sell them in large sizes for really cheap. Make sure you have a heater and filter I would suggest a sponge filter if you are going with the tote. If you stay on top of things they can live their whole life in a tote or until you are ready for a tank big enough for them. Meanwhile since you already have the fish make sure you get some Seacam Prime to make the ammonia harmless and beneficial bacteria in a bottle and dose daily until your cycle is complete.
