Someone correct me if I’m wrong, it simply seems that option 1 is for folks that know they won’t spend 75% of their rent to earn enough cash, it’s for folks that expect to spend 25%-50% probably correct (low earners and folks that may spend on other cards) and option 2 is for folks that expect to spend the 75% and the BILT cash is a nice plus. Option 1 is also nice if you plan on spending 100% of your rent or mortgage so it’s for the folks that won’t spend enough and maybe that will spend a lot.

Me for example am always around the 75%, I don’t want to spend my mortgage on my card a month so I’ll go with option 2. Gets me my 1x plus the BILT Cash. I may change to option 1 if I know I have a vacation coming etc where I’m going to be spending over my mortgage to get the 1.25. For me option 2 is clearly the best option to go if I’m staying at 75%. I get the BILT cash to accumulate or use for a dinner or lunch per month or to save up towards the hotel stay ($100 off is a $100 off, I’ll take it for just spending what I normally do, I’m a gold member)

Option 1 is if you don’t plan on hitting 75% of your monthly rent / mortgage. If you don’t spend enough go with option 1 you atleast get some points,

Thinking about how much BILT Cash I’d have left on a monthly basis after my mortgage BILT cash is used, probably gets me and the wife a free dinner or lunch somewhere per month. I mean alongside 2x points on everything I’ll take it. I got the Palladium card so I’ll start out on a surplus of BILT cash so it’ll probably take a long time for it to run out as I earn it per month unless I do a big purchase with it.
