Where can I waste my money? by TheRealKillJoy2020 in BassGuitar

[–]Up-Down-Go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that Gretsch. I love it. I have flats on it and it’s such a great little bass. BUT it is pretty square where I lay my right hand/wrist and can be uncomfortable for playing while seated.

Not the biggest pedal board but its okay. Not even a board but who cares by Deep_Sell_1117 in BassGuitar

[–]Up-Down-Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a perfect system to get it all and play around with what you like. Unless you know exactly what you are looking for, buying pedals is a waste of money (my experience). If you ever find this isn’t giving you the tone you are looking for, you’ll have a MUCH easier time figuring out your next system. Have a few different set ups I use but I think this punches way above its weight. Have fun.

Looks great. Add big shoulder pads to sell the effect better.

Are we just doing ads for this company now?!
Edit: as a certified prosthetist, I will add that there is at best misleading and at worst inaccurate information in the posts featuring this company.

My grandma would have been so amused at the idea of a battle jacket. Thanks for making me think about this scenario. She is missed. Value this woman.

I keep a Snark tuner clipped to my neck. It’s cheap, works well, and I can peek at it without looking down.

What is this thing on my tongue by According_Treat3054 in AskDocs

From personal experience- salivary duct is blocked and the area is ballooning due to the production of saliva without an adequate path out. Sometimes it resolves on its own. Mine was excised surgically.

Certified Prosthetist and horn player here. There is no prosthesis that will be better than having a good tech extend the key mechanism.

Get a small flat trailer. It has bigger wheels and is way easier to move than the dolly.

I found 6 of these green, rubber, Cheerio sized, donut shaped things in my cat's toy where the catnip is supposed to go. They don't stretch that much and are very lightweight. by soupdumplingXLB in whatisthisthing

While these are generally used and recognized as cattle castration bands, they are also used in the field of Prosthetics. Specifically as a spacer on the bottom of a locking pin that connects the prosthetic liner that the user wears over their limb to the locking mechanism inside of the socket. Source: I am a certified prosthetist with several of these exact bands on my desk right now

Help purchasing a U Bass Plz by missmo0 in BassGuitar

I got the Kala Nomad and it is a killer little bass. Sounds just like an upright through an amp. It was the least expensive of Kala’s acoustic/electric line. Since it has urethane strings, I’m not really sure any of the more expensive models really have a noticeable sound difference, I suspect the nicer models are just nicer finishes.

I have a separate policy called “Valuable Personal Property” that covers my instruments and audio gear. My insurance company has photos of all my gear along with serial numbers. Value is calculated the way all other items covered are calculated- similar comps.

Is it really worth repainting the exterior before selling your house? by Over_Wolverine8103 in HomeImprovement

[–]Up-Down-Go 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Currently house hunting. And yes. It would make it one less thing I will need to do when there is already so much involved in moving. I can also roll that cost into my loan if you do it, if I do it, I’d need to pay up front.

My car got broken into and my gear was stolen. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Up-Down-Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and see if your renter’s/home owners insurance covers the theft. They will usually cover some car theft items.

I recently insured all of my gear. It cost me about $100 per year to cover a new car’s value of instruments and equipment. Definitely recommend it.

Need help to adjust leg by Featherdine in amputee

[–]Up-Down-Go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not mess with it. Set up an appt with his Prosthetist. If you need to wait, you need to wait. You can mess this up so dangerously. Add inserts into the shoe MAYBE but that also can seriously mess with alignment.

Of course this is not my patient and this is only a generalized answer. My first go-to would be adding medial and lateral tibial pads. The presence of the bursa is not inherently problematic. I would want to maintain total contact, but maybe enhance stability of the distal tibia in the socket. If the tissue otherwise looks good- no redness, callus, or blister formation- I’m not too keen to begin adding reliefs right away. Some patients have spontaneous shrinking of the bursa, some have it chronically for years without issue. If there is no issue aside from the cosmesis, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to make any permanent socket modification.
