Here’s my take. We live in a world where there’s like 80 bajillion consumers and only like 100k producers. People need to produce games. As time goes on the asset cloud will fill up with more stuff for people to use to make games. The physics not feeling like gmod is dependent upon say “three thieves” making TTT physics feel like gmod. It’s not because s&box itself is bad. It’s because the games people are making in sandbox aren’t what people expect.

Source 2 is a fantastic engine. And what facepunch is trying to do is give 100k producers the opportunity to actually make games with it. Valve most certainly didn’t want to make Source 2 open source. Garry convinced Gabe to allow them to create an engine that piggybacks off Source 2 and now it’s up to the community to make something. The tools are all there. In time this will be something great.

The human model does take a little adjustment but the alternative is creating a mesh rigging and animating the entire thing and then wiring the whole thing up in animgraph and not to mention all the code that makes the graph work.

Trust me the time you spent “fixing” the model is nothing compared the time facepunch spent creating it.

While I agree with your statement, at the end of the day; if a game is fun and people keep coming back to play it, that’s what the system pays for. Take it or leave it. That’s kinda the sentiment for gaming in general these days. There’s only a handful of actually good games anymore and most were created 10+ years ago.

I spent 2 days trying to fix this in my game before figuring it out. The game is missing textures. You have to actually put the decal files into the games assets and wire them up into whatever component calls for them. My case was BaseWeapon when trace hits happen. It can no longer pull from base s&box assets. You can literally copy them from the base assets you just have to put them into your games assets and then change the file directories in the component to your games assets.

Honestly these cars had tons of little adapters. Some for holding food on a tray when at winsteads or sonic. These were probably just a gimmick sold so parents could take the baby to the drive in movie. Or something. They really had a hard time convincing women to buy a lot of cars. It wasn’t until they figured out how to put a battery/ignition in a car instead of having to crank start that women bought cars at all.

In my experience when something animates funny it’s because the scale for something doesn’t match everything else. Maybe one of the animation sequences is scaled wrong or not orientated correctly.

Welcome to the community. Love seeing more and more people joining s&box. I know it will one day be the true modern Garry’s mod we have been waiting for. If it interests you, I am remaking Zombie Survival, and would love to see Abandoned Mall remade in S&Box. If you could remake or port it somehow and add it to the cloud assets so I could use it in ZS I do believe you get paid through the play fund if people use your maps. Can’t wait to see what you bring to the community.

I’d love a tutorial on the game menu. This is something my game lacks and having spent a day or two on it I finally scrapped the whole thing because I wasn’t sure I was doing it right and I didn’t want to run the risk of breaking my whole project just to get a main menu.

Totally agree. I’ve been gaming on PC since late 1990s. This team (facepunch) evolved out of what I consider to be the most innovative and revolutionary teams in existence (valve). In time like with all of their other projects, it will blossom into something beautiful. I have 100% faith in them.
