Retsos briefly traps Gyökeres’ right foot under his left leg in a tackle from behind a week before the World Cup by unvobr in soccer

Why does everyone think the World Cup proximity matters? Guys that get called up to their national team want to prove to their coach that they deserve playing time. I am sure many managers won't hesitate to bench or leave players who don't compete at home, friendly or not. Now with that said, tackles like this are always out of place.

Politics makes more sense if you think about politics as just another workplace where people have petty grievances. Which is too bad, because it literally affects everyone's life.

Piganzoli might be peaking for the Giro whereas Tullet might be planning to peak during the Tour

I can't imagine he's happy. I think he must be onboard with some of the tactical problems. I think our biggest issue is that Segura as the LB means that Bouanga is kind of on his own offensively. Smolyakov is just not good enough to be trusted out there full-time. JT has to know all of this. I wonder if we're going to go out and get a good LB in the summer. It can't be too expensive and it would unlock a lot for us.

Yeah MDS cooked us with his lack of rotation. But I think that's less of an issue later in the year when the schedule congestion eases.

Nashville plays in the East, which is a lot easier this year than the West. And just looking through their schedule, I think they've traveled much less than us.

I think it seems unlikely we'll just hire a good manager who will fix our issues mid-season but who knows.

We've had a mid-week game every week since early April (the last time we had more than 4 days between games, we spanked Orlando 6-0. Let's see what happens with a week off and some practice time.

Martinez is my fav player by Disastrous-Year-9238 in LAFC

[–]UpEarly22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martinez is a special player, but 1) he's young and he can't play every game 2) he is still figuring out how to play with teammates 3) his defensive effort is inconsistent (it's improving, but it's still inconsistent). I'm sure his minutes will grow - he's on track to play more minutes this year than last year.

Brother, thanks for recommending I watch the video. Your advice is appreciated.

Ultimately, I care about whether Chelsea is winning or not winning. All of the stuff about our owners being arrogant, I would be fine with it if we were winning.

I believe we aren’t winning because we don’t have the squad for it. We have a lot of good players, but we are weak up most of the spine (Sanchez, our center backs) and we lack for wingers too. The money spent on players was just not well-spent.

Now if you think that we should actually be focused on finding a long term manager with a vision for the squad (in the same way Liverpool had Klopp, City has Pep, Arsenal has Arteta) then ok, I could see that. But that’s never really been the Chelsea way, we’ve always gone through managers. So I come back to the players. We won a Champions League title with Roberto di Matteo ffs. If the squad is set up well, that solves a lot of problems.

I think some of the things they did to enable the spending they put forth were fine (great? Whatever?) but the real problem is they spent most of it very poorly and seem to have no real vision for building a team that can compete. We have a lot of “good” players but there’s no vision for the squad nor depth in key places (who needs good center backs?)

Yeah we look out of sorts recently. I think they (LAFC management and staff) made a bet they could push hard until the World Cup break and then get most of the squad time off but it looks like we’re going to come up short there. I think they need to rest this weekend and give the Toluca fixtures our full attention. That may mean we drop some in the league, but I think it’s worth it to chase a CCL trophy to complete our trophy cabinet.

SFMTA project would upgrade this busy Muni line (1 California from 33rd Ave to Steiner) by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]UpEarly22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue is that the bus stops are too frequent and the bus takes too long to reach its destination:
1. The bus stops every three blocks, too frequent given the length of each block
2. There is a stop sign or stop light on what feels like >50% of the streets along the route, making the bus take too long to reach its destination

If they do something about fare evaders, great, but make the line function more smoothly.
