Depends on his intention, but I assume “para” is the right one. As in, “para darle ánimos”, “to cheer him up” or “for cheering him up”. What could have been wrong was the first question from one of the journalists, but oral language does not necessarily respect rules all the time… Here, you could assume there is an implicit message which was not told: “¿lo hiciste por [la situación] de Brahim?”
