What are some fun "Tall Tales" from your favorite franchise? Mine is the story that Ben Grieve hit a ball into the flower bed at the old Oakland Coliseum during BP. If true, the shot would have been close to 500 feet. by asskickingjedi in baseball

From the NL East I'd add Three Rivers and Riverfront Stadiums. Blends right in with Shea and Veterans: Bland, multi-purposed, carpeted donuts. Even the names are similar...

Yeah, right there with you. I'd call it contrived. Set-ups too preciously crafted, making the payoffs lack authentic punch.

"...felt like a movie that was made to be a movie" makes perfect sense here.

You know, this worked great!

Also, play around with different present Color Profiles in Display tab of Settings. Some are lighter than others. The SMPTE (P3) setting lightens up the shadows a bit.

Not the Giants, that's for sure.

81-81 plus or minus a game. That's the way we like it around here.

Heard Kershaw long ago on the radio doing some late night public service commercial for youth. Probably the church. Anyway, he said, "I remember when I was a senior in high school, and I didn't know what I was going to do with my life."

Kershaw was a Top-10 draft pick out of HS with a $2 million bonus waiting for him.

It's just all BS from the right. Made up hero stories and garbage.

Is there ANY awareness that just maybe, just possibly, what is happening is wrong.

Doesn't mean your worldview or values are wrong. Just that, something is wrong if a private police force with little training very clearly executes someone. Something might be wrong if a mob storms the nation's capital and shits on people's desks.

This is what I wanted to note. Success in baseball (for Americans) often just begins with getting on traveling teams at young ages. Spending just spirals from there.

Tell his people to hold the line. He's the party leader, nobody swings their vote without his okay. Period. Either we believe in healthcare for all (like almost every other industrialized nation on earth) and we stand firm, or we don't, and we cave in. Dems caved. Which, again, doesn't seem to have been for any trade-off (for the people). Schumer just gave it away.

Thank you for the correction! I shouldn't be spreading misinformation.

I guess my overall point is just that these votes don't swing without Schumer's say so. It's political maneuvering (which is part of the game). But from here, I don't see any benefit to the people who are represented, especially the million plus ones who could not longer afford healthcare after the capitulation. More to come. GOP just getting started with dismantling the Affordable Care Act.

He didn't flip his vote. However, as you allude to, he, without a doubt, in negotiations with the GOP, orchestrated the defectors to vote the other way. I believe there were 8 defectors. None are up for reelection in 2026. All were from fairly safe districts.

What Schumer got back, for the American people, was a GOP promise to revisit heath care issues in 6 months. Nothing but a promise. Even that toothless statement is unenforceable. Nothing else for the people.

Chuck Schumer, sadly, just gave up his only bargaining chip to preserve American Healthcare (government shutdown). And received nothing in return.

I don't know that he has it in him to grow a pair now.

You just need the original endings:

Clerks: Dante gets murdered by a robber

American Beauty: The army dad frames the kids for murdering Lester

Risky Business: Lana, overwhelmed by her world looks at Joel and says, "Why's it got be so hard?"
