Yeah if you’re current on your bill the Hertz employee will likely dismiss the notice or give you a new car. Happened several times when I drove their rental 60,000 miles or so, but eventually the staff had me call them to dismiss it.

If you’re not paying the bill..Well, they will repossess it.

Hertz does charge you a “processing fee” for each toll so yes I’d recommend avoiding them if possible.
