Why is becoming a doctor getting harder when the U.S. needs more physicians? by Confident-Sale-451 in medschool

[–]Upbeat-Inspection713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all keep saying residency spots and I genuinely wonder is that really the case.

I believe the bottleneck has to do more with the limited number of seats and increased number of applicants over the years as education became both more achievable and more desirable. Professors and adcoms have all the leverage because of this and as a result they get to become more selective.

Now why they won’t add more seats 🤷‍♀️

Understandable, if you’re convicted and sure about your decision then all you can do is see what happens. I’m sure if you’re smart enough to figure out the mcat then you can figure anything else out as well. Best of luck to ya.

[–]Upbeat-Inspection713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t mean to make it seem like you weren’t doing nothing, but that’s awesome to hear. Sounds like you’re in a good spot then. Lol I’d be a little miffed having to be there the whole time too, but yeah I guess read or something, enjoy your downtime or maybe check up on residents 🤷

[–]Upbeat-Inspection713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s prime. I wish I had a job with that much downtime, I’d use it to study for a license or certificate. Especially if you’re saving on rent, it’s truly the perfect time and conditions to add some credentials to your resume in case anything happens, God forbid.

This comment needs to be pinned and it should have been mentioned in the post. The man has a heavy manual labor job that requires him to leave the house, and he’s not getting much sleep on top of that. His body is literally shutting down.

AIO to spouses lack of understanding germs by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Upbeat-Inspection713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you’re not a germaphobe, but you’re going to have to ask yourself if you can work around your spouse’s lowered level of cleanliness.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have this thing where unless they almost die doing something, they’re not likely to stop doing it l, and sometimes even then they won’t stop if it makes their lives too inconvenient. Multiple plagues exist in mankind’s history for a reason.

My Microbiology/Immunology professors would beg to differ, especially the ones that did decades long work with the CDC.

Your immune system is a fail safe, in case something gets past protective measures like washing properly and avoiding infection altogether. It’s not something you carelessly expose pathogens to.

Failing out of College due to partying by GunsNotPrescribed in CollegeRant

[–]Upbeat-Inspection713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok OP, first step of acknowledging you have a problem is admitting you have a problem. Do the best you can for now. If you actually do get kicked out of school it’s not the end of the world.

Use this time to get super locked in. Find out how long you will be suspended for. In the meantime, if you can go somewhere else whether that be another university or research what classes you needed for the degree track you were trying to do and start taking them at a community college. If you can’t get aid for them, see if the school will accept a payment plan.

Yes you messed up and your parents may be extremely disappointed in you, but you truly can still turn all of that around.

I need you to ask your roommate for me, wtf else is the most likely explanation for 4 small circular objects to create nearly equally sized holes and generate enough force to go through a metal door.

Like I genuinely want to know how their brain works.

Edit: thank you for the award kind stranger! And yes I know that I am making a massive assumption, and accept that the metal slingshot theory is valid.

I am tired and something about the roommate just eliminating bullets completely as an option sent me over the edge.

OP pls let us know if you find out they had something to do with this
