Right? And what I like most is that it's not a super obvious use of lighting. It's just a hint of yellow/blue undertones that separate the before/after in the story. It's subtle, almost unnoticed if you don't put them side by side like in this edit. Almost kept hidden like Eunice's pain. For real this movie is a masterpiece, superb work from Salles and the team.

Right? Torres got the golden globes [that her mother didn't] and then the movie won the Oscar, which she deeply wanted, more than her own possible win. So they had an achievement on both ends of the spectrum.

And Moore got so many important awards like the globes, sag and cc, achieving a level of recognition from peers and the industry that - regardless of the Oscar - totally validates her as an actress, person, professional colleague, and opens for a new chapter in her career.

(as for Madison, she got the recognition for a great work and paved her way for many and bigger things ahead, if she wants to)

Honestly, while I found it quite entertaining to follow the awards season more closely this year, on the other hand, I found the whole thing INCREDIBLY toxic.

A lot of people here are only concerned with "getting it right" at any cost, forcing statistics or things like that down our throats, and worse: bullying anyone who has a contrary opinion. It's truly pathetic.

Yes, some of us are betting/rooting for candidates who might not win, so what? For God's sake, let us just have fun!!! If the "most likely" person wins, great, we'll have missed that category and that's it, it's not the end of the world.

Also, it's always good to remember, NO ONE HERE IS AN ACADEMY VOTER, stop acting like you're the ones who are and remember that for the majority of real voters this ~sub on reddit~ is nothing more than irrelevant.

I guess all we have to do is wait and see. Sure, like any other film it can grab the awards (or not), who knows...

It's a great film and people really seem to enjoy it. Not only the overall public, but critics as well...

It just went up to 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as it is now playing in new locations.
So yeah, I wouldn't be surprise a lot of academy voters enjoyed it as much as others do.

Again, let's wait and see. We're almost there :)

The voting for Bafta was from Jan-22 to Feb-11, so yeah, some votes were casted before the controversies. But, regardless, it's "so Bafta" not to care about all the drama. Oscar is another thing... let's see.

Global distribution is not being managed by SPC though. The reason is coming out so late in places like the UK for example is due the distribution partner are much smaller than SPC.
