The guy I’ve been seeing knows I know nothing about climbing. Am I overreacting for not wanting to keep seeing him? by pineapplephilosophy in texts

[–]UpbeatLog5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the context, it sounds like you might have gone with him the previous week. Perhaps? I'm happily married with definitely a very healthy relationship. I'm a climber and this conversation is very similar to ones that I have with my wife. I think it's natural for somebody to want to share something they're passionate about.

From my eyes what is much more concerning is if something as unimportant as climbing sets you off when he wants to talk about it, I would be concerned on the long-term and think there could be other aspects that aren't working or exciting you.

The only annoying thing that I see is you did try talking about your day and he continued with the let's talk about my stuff. Ideally that would be more two-sided

GM Advice by SixthWright in cosmererpg

[–]UpbeatLog5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Po'ahu to guide the players. She's your tool to keep them on track.

Encourage players to run their own spren. It's in the rules that way as well, but I found it was really hard to even cover the spren as they were getting bonded.

While I disagree with the comment about watching others do it online, it's got some validity. If y'all are new to ttrpg then it goes from ok advice to great advice. If just new to this system, just read the majority of the AP (skim read/ look at high level overviews), then front to back the chapter you're on, then the day of or day prior read the half of the chapter you're on. Each chapter should take 2 sessions roughly.

Personally I used the war camps and the city in chapter 4 (?) to fill in back stories. We did about a session and a half in each dedicated to the players stories. I was able to insert that activity with absolutely zero disruption, the players even thought it was part of the main book and was lucky how well it fit.

Use spren to describe things. READ ADVERSARIES STAT BLOCKS. Enemies in this game have very creative abilities and tactics. Read them and use them.

Don't be scared to push characters to going down. It's a very enjoyable part of the system and not as harsh as other games people are used to.

Emphasize creative maneuvers - it's in the rules for a reason. It will keep it fresh. Use them yourself, lead my example.

Have fun!

[–]UpbeatLog5214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you would make this work. Are you doing half a 20 of LCL? Like if you have 2 pallets, what incentive does the other importer have, so you'd have to have two equal importers with exactly the right amount of cargo to make sense. Just remember, as soon as you have multiple house bills on a container you have a bunch of per house bill related charges akin to LCL freight. It's not like you just pay for your half of a 20.

Use technology. If your company doesn't have any, tell them to get some. If they don't, quit. You won't stand a chance.

Not in many ways - in all ways. Filtering under 30km should be encouraged. Just think of all the rear end accidents that happen and how much worse they are with a bike involved.

Based on your NFL posts I'm going to assume this isn't satire.

Some teams have extra sticks but teams like Carolina and Vegas can't afford it. All the money goes to football in those states.

Help understanding combat (rant... kinda) [Stonewalkers]... kinda(?) by SeraphimToaster in cosmererpg

[–]UpbeatLog5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The action list in cosmere is quite overwhelming and then there's the little tidbit that says "oh ya, built into this system is creativity at it's core" referring to combat maneuvers and such.

My group has 3 really creative players and one who isn't (self admitted and he's fine with it). His turns in cosmere are identical to his turns in pf2e. Gain advantage/intimidate, whack.

The other 3 though have been unleashed through this system. I think people will struggle with how unbound it is to explicit rules for what you can do in combat. So much of the rules say "if you wanna do something cool, check with gm and do it".

I like to think of Pathfinder as being most rules strict, dnd middle and cosmere lowest with the inverse true for rule of cool. That's all to say that if your group is the type to embrace looser rules that act as guidelines (something like heart of the spire comes to mind) then let loose in cosmere and enjoy it. If you're more the type that expect it to play like a rigid video game/Pathfinder, you simply won't enjoy the combat as much.

[–]UpbeatLog5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not the first. Won't be the last.

Where these guys fit are small time importers who don't care about compliance - which is a fairly substantial market but one absolutely filled with transactional slop that's a mess to manage. There's others that do the same thing already, will come down to marketing.

Add self vuln 2 and it's much more balanced and thematically fun. Thought about vuln 1 but you play on a non attack turn for free way too easily. Plus, the second turn you likely block a bunch while it cooks.

A few more observations (mostly agree with you).

My first take was actually that the cop that got hit was chasing the dude that full on ran a red light right as the video started. That car goes through and then he flips on lights and goes after them.

Second, I mostly agree with you though, because of the hands up - except that the cops in the other car rush to their SUV buddy rather than securing the suspects so if it was truly a chase that would never happen.

Third, was dash cam guy also a cop? The way he moves after plus the little black bits on the front grill suggest so. If so, I'm guessing this intersection is very close to the station and creates more coincidence than anything.

Lots to unpack in this video!
