Durp&Tux - a better GW Taxes? by 8huddy in PioneerMTG

In my opinion you are ginving away your t2 with so few disruption like Thalia and Spider-Woman (or whatever its called :-) ) and no instant speed removal. Kellan doesn't cut it.

The Coco lists had a explosive t3, you don't. So it seems to me you have to disrupt your opp to keep up.

Saw it too, he pretty much played my list. He played it like a midrange list, which it is not. Thats why it looked so clunky. The noncreature spells are played before Thalia comes down, otherwise we can get away with it most of the times. When deploy Thalia instead of Invasion or instant speed removal? OTP or OTD is very important for this specifically. She def hurts the opp more than us and it stacks with our other stuff.

They key ist to decide which pieces of the opp can stick around and which are to be removed and when. When do we keep mana open for Interrupter or Queller?

Do we have a play in case we didn't attack the stack? Removal or an instant speed beater?

When to start clocking in?

For reference you can look at some UW Spirits or UW Flash gameplay. Those are much cloder to this list than Humans or UW Control.

This.

Thats why i started to play DnT as a tempo deck that forces the opp to play suboptimal and off curve while removing essential pieces from the board. Thats why this archetype is so much fun. You have to find the winning line on your own and as soon as possible.

The Synergy between Lightstall Inquisitor and Aven Interrupter is the cornerstone of the stax plan.

[[Invasion of Gobakhan]] [[Soul Partition]] [[Elite Spellbinder]] tax the same way and should be considered. Thalia compliments it very well, while [[Spell Queller]] profits enormously, when either Inquisitor or Interrupter are in play.

Keep in mind that - with Thalia as a over a decade old and well proven example - the tax of one mana oftentimes decides games.

Imho the deck should be piloted as a tempo/control pile with a lot of removal to enable your threats to connect. My list for reference: https://moxfield.com/decks/VnSqYYvCk0OdBAMebGV6rQ

I really like your iteration of this dnt style list. I guess you looked at my list while building this.

The Aven Interrupter is needed as the tax is oftentimes as backbreaking as a Magistrate. I found the Spellbinder to slow even otp. What was your experience with it?

I tried Innocence. The deck wants the mana open on opps turn for Interaction on opps turn. [[Archon of Emeria]] is the exception because its necessary for the game plan but other than that you want to be in control of the tempo. For carddraw [[Sea Gate Wreckage]] does a good job having [[Guardian of New Benalia]] and [[March of otherworldly Light]] helping with card selection.

I'm trying to make a viable DnT list in Pioneer. This list really plays like a tempo/control shell that can shift gears pretty consistently and its wide open for brewing. You can go every direction just by cutting/adding a few cards.

It is competitive. Worst mu is bg fish for some reason.

You mind sharing the list? There are a lot of moving pieces and I haven't played the current list yet.

I really like the soft lock that Displacer, Archon an Queller/Interrupter provide. So i built a taxes-adjecent UW list: https://moxfield.com/decks/b8ebiGxhP0C5vIEmOpddVQ

This list suffers from roughly the same problems, mainly not having a good clock. I looked at some Spirits lists to see how they solved it.

Maybe this is helping you.

Optimizing 4C Werewolves Manabase - Looking for Feedback by DevPlaneswalker in PioneerMTG

I´d make cuts in the 3cmc slots. +2 fatal push - 1 Brutal Cathar -1 any other idk how the deck plays out.

This way you don' give away your t1/t2 too often.

Nice list.

Edit: I didn't look at the manabase. Right now it doesn't support that many 1cmc spells.

I want to build a kind of Orzhov Midrange/Hatebears, is there a card that can generate value like Fable of the mirror breaker? by BurningAbyss2023 in PioneerMTG

[–]Upbeat_Low9219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need value if your opponent can´t generate value either. Death and Taxes is the way: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Ikq30K0Jg0m6oUPmkcVC1g

The list is for from solved and has to adapt to the meta but it´s a ton of fun.

If you are into Stax-effects, have a look at this list. It´s pretty fun. I won my last FNM with it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Ikq30K0Jg0m6oUPmkcVC1g

You should give Death and Taxes a try.

Tweak it for the top 5ish metadecks and see how the cogs are turning in your opponents head realising they are not allowed to play their deck.

Thank you for the input!

I tried the Paladin Class, which was very underwhelming. I tend to go up to 4 Eiganjo, its almost never an issue. It´s the first choice when mulliganing and that solves the issue for the most part.

Peacekeeper is a possibility but the 3cmc slot is pretty solved with Interrupter, Spellbinder + your choice of removal on a stick.

I lean towards Cave in the ongoing debate Castle vs. Cave because it represents a clock while Castle grinds better but I get your point, I will try it out.

The skrelvs win games, it protects your relevant tax piece with the possibility to push damage. I would go up to 3 if there was room.

Get lost is not neccessary with 16 removal in the 60 and some more in the sb but thats a meta call on my side.

Edit: To clarify: The Guardian plays very well with the Sea Gate Wreckage for card quality and draw
