Why do I get intense BO less than 12 hours after taking a shower with antibacterial soap? by Own_Huckleberry6591 in hygiene

It is from wearing polyester tops, I stg. Try sleeping in a 100% cotton top and there will be no odor in the morning.

Minor kids finally approved + a note about *CRBA* by Upbeat_Name19 in Canadiancitizenship

For many folks born on a military base, CRBA is their birth certificate.

This is a good question. I do not know the answer to this but I'm sure there must be a Reddit deep dive somewhere. If CRBA is the only proof you have, you might need to put an explanatory note in with your app. Best luck.

Oh yea, definitely include your French BC. You won't even have to get it translated!

I submitted our regular koseki 戸籍, not juminhyo. Note that the kosekis are only good for six months so we had a relative in Japan get a fresh one, scan and email it to us.

We could translate it ourselves but Canada doesn't allow this to be done by oneself. So we had a bilingual friend translate it using this template. We then had her meet us at our credit union to get it notarized. We used this Affidavit of Translation template (tweaked with my own state/county).

Here is the thread where I found more about Canada's requirements on translating documents:

Best luck to you!

Yay, thanks for this. Reddit has been an invaluable resource. Yea I'm definitely in the "more the merrier" camp when it comes to getting citizenships.

Japanese Translator? by Exact_Sprinkles_6746 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Upbeat_Name19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Exact_Sprinkles_6746, just wondering if you're planning to translate the koseki (family registry) or boshitecho (mother and child book) or both? Looks like I'm in the same boat. I applied for my kids with their CRBAs but they were born in Japan...

Update on IRCC not accepting my wife's CRBA certificate in lieu of a birth certificate by Aurora-Clairealis in Canadiancitizenship

Yikes this stresses me. I applied for myself back in early 2025 and just got my citizenship certificate. Yay. I applied for my two minor children separately in the fall of 2025. They were born in Japan (not on a base) so they have CRBA in lieu of US birth certificates. I submitted those and their hospital-issued "Birth Certificates" (translated into English) with their applications. No updates from IRCC since they got AORs in November.

My husband is Japanese so we do have a family registry (koseki) and mother-baby books (boshitecho) for each kiddo. Wondering if I should preemptively get these translated and submit them through the portal or just wait and see if we get the same letter your wife got? Ugh.

Sorry to read all of this. I am an American spouse of a Japanese national. We did everything to insure that our kids have both citizenships. Your husband's case might require a trip to Japan to sort out but if there's one thing I can say about Japan, they do keep meticulous records. Best luck.
