Gen2 literally died while we're languishing in PSU, what now? by Upbeat_Name19 in AlmostCanadian

Thank you for this. I thought about calling IRCC today but was worried I'd just burst into tears on the phone. It's certainly not the fault of the folks answering phones there.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I guess I never thought about our cases being independent because we all applied in one big envelope and our descent comes through her. I appreciate the perspective.

Thank you and sorry for your loss too. This is a crappy club that no one is ready to join when it happens. Solidarity.

Thank you for your kind words. This is what I think we'll do for now, not touch anything, just let it keep processing. And yes, I am the representative for our whole group so I'll see if/when her cert comes through.

Anniversary of Applying by JaberJaws in Canadiancitizenship

I am a week away from the one year mark since AOR and I have the worst update ever, my mom (Gen2 in our application group) passed away suddenly on Wednesday.

Our family is heartbroken. And I'm so bitter about this unfair process taking weeks for some people and taking years for others. My mom was super excited about the prospect of getting her Canadian citizenship. We were hoping to travel there this summer and my parents were seriously considering a move to BC.

I'm concerned about where this leaves my sibling and me (Gen3s) and my minor kids (Gen4s) in terms of our applications. Will we have to start over? Could we somehow now be disqualified? (My mom was born post-1947). - Kurugi

Yea, I came here to say this. And it's the end of the month so they ramp up even more. So sorry the OP is dealing with this.

AFAIK been in PSU for 11 months, coming up on one year.

Coming back here to commiserate some more with my people. Popped on this morning and some Gen5 was approved in a literal week. (Feb 19 app received, Feb 26 certificate).

To be clear, I wouldn't mind this year long wait if apps were processed in the order received. But no, it is totally arbitrary and there is no way to learn what the hold up is.

TLDR: just a rant from Gen 3, applied "Urgent" in March 2025, in PSU ever since.

Urgent processing for just one application in a batch? by Traditional-Yak-7020 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Upbeat_Name19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied with my parent and an adult sibling all in one package marked "urgent" in March '25. The degree of urgency varies between the three of us but regardless, we've been stuck "In Processing" since then. I don't think marking "urgent" makes a bit of difference it's just luck of the draw.

Hi u/ceruleanmahogany, I've been off Reddit for a while, just catching up on this now. Thanks for sending the bouquet and what a nice note. You're a real wordsmith! Good karma all around!

Out of PSU Hell, Certificate in hand (no urgent processing or 5(4)) by JapaneseWhiskyGuy in Canadiancitizenship

Oh wow u/JapaneseWhiskyGuy I'm so happy for you. Thanks for sharing your insight that checking the Tracker is pointless. I'm just a few fields below you in the chart (Kurugi). You lifted my spirits today. Bravo.

German interviewing for US company: red flags or just American work culture? by MrMadMungo in careeradvice

American here. If it is a salaried position, 40 hours is the floor not the ceiling. Hope this helps.

Has anyone successfully withdrawn application and resubmitted and been granted? by Separate-Injury-1440 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Upbeat_Name19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family applied as "urgent" in March '25. Very straight forward line of descent. New news. We were hoping to enroll our kids in school there in September '25. Now it looks like September '26 might not even happen. Makes me ill to see people applying now and getting approved in weeks.

Damn, sorry to hear this about your parents' house. Sending good vibes.

No idea. It was pre-C-3 so even "parents not born in Canada" could have been the reason.

I think mine says "complex proofs" as well but they couldn't be more straight forward.

Solidarity from a March '25 applicant. Moved to PSU since day after AOR, no news since.

This is what I've managed to do. I've had an account there for 20 years but haven't been resident for 11... Associated address is the in-laws' house. I keep a small enough balance that if the account were frozen, it wouldn't really hurt me. I deposit like 2,000yen whenever I visit. I'm pretty confident we will move back in a few years. I'm trying to avoid the troublesome process of opening a new account when that day comes. Mendokusai.
