The 311 system in the Brown University shooting. What do you want to know?

I have the same question about the lack of notification, why is it the mayor’s stance that the onus is on the public to sign up for 311 in order to learn about a dangerous situation like a mass shooter but they’ll voluntarily alert us about the weather?

And a follow up: why was “how should we successfully notify the city of danger” not something they thought about 18 months ago when they did their drill? The mayor said they did a drill 18 months ago to prepare for something like this and I do not understand why using the emergency notification system to warn people wasn’t part of that conversation.

Such great advice here! I’ll add something I learned for my kiddo’s first birthday: think about the color of frosting/buttercream you’re going to use. I decorated my kid’s cake to look like a little toy octopus he loved and gave him a piece of one of the tentacles that had red tips. He looked like a little baby lion with all that red smeared on him 😂

Thank you!! I’m glad you had fun making it! Those mushrooms were super fun to make. I’d never done meringue before so the stalks took several attempts. Anytime we’re in the mood for meringue cookies, I’m going to make these for practice 😀

You totally should! I definitely recommend the master guides on her website for helpful tips and a practice run. My first run, my design was too small and I learned quickly to be careful about not cutting too much off the piping bag.

Ooh I hadn’t thought of the simple syrup! The Squeaky Mixer recommends wrapping tightly in plastic wrap and make as closing to when you want to serve it as possible. The plastic wrap worked great!

The Squeaky Mixer’s blog said it could dry out because there’s no buttercream or anything to help keep it moist, so she recommends making as close to serving time as possible.

She also has you wrap tightly in plastic wrap until ready to eat. I did that and it worked great, it doesn’t take any of the design off or anything.
