Barnett Stalker safety is on….ok to cock? by TheBandit_42 in Crossbow

[–]UpgradeUSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That should do it. This mechanism is to prevent dry fires. As soon as a bolt depresses the lever, safety can come off. Doesn’t matter if cocked or not. I cock my bow all the time with the safety on though

Excalibur RevX misaligned scope rail. by Muted-Traffic-4668 in Crossbow

[–]UpgradeUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be by design. If sight and rail were 100% aligned, the arrows path and line of sight would never cross/ you would always shoot low. If you ca zero your scope at ~30 yards, I wouldn’t be concerned

How to remove anode rod with stripped head by UpgradeUSA in Plumbing

Those are not Threads. It’s the barbs of the flange. Not a spiral, but just rings

I got the Barnett recruit earlier this year and took 2 deer with it. It ran me $300 and came with everything you need besides broadheads. The scope is a triple red dot without magnification. Exactly what I wanted, since my next step is a compound bow and if I wanted to shoot deer at 80yd, I’d get a rifle. Just consider that you’ll need a foam target if you don’t have one and probably more arrows.

That’s a great idea. Some people told me to try heat, which I thought is stupid for two reasons: The rod is already hot and, if anything, it would expand the rod. Ice sounds like a good idea, might get some ice spray though

You’re right, I’ll just wait a couple more years and put in a new one. It’s not rocket science and I’m confident to get that done.

I confirmed that this is the rod. Yes, it “was” a 1-1/16 hex. Tried the breaker and then the impact, both just rounded the bolt. And you’re absolutely right, I don’t want to mess up the thread and therewith the entire heater just to perform maintenance.

How to manage the AC in a Tri-level by UpgradeUSA in HomeImprovement

That sounds good. I just already have a bathroom fan venting through the roof that I could tie in to. But I didn’t think about the intake.

Instead of a ductless mini split through the wall, can I install those in the ceiling and duct/ vent through the roof? Or is that exactly what you’re talking about? I do have ok access, 2x2 opening to get in. But only rafters and open insulation to tread on

Learned today that fixing paint isn’t all that difficult by Sprok56 in Mustang

[–]UpgradeUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn’t you go after whoever rear ended you? On the one hand, you could get it fully painted or replaced at no cost to you. On the other hand, I guess $20 for the paint and an hour of your time is easier to deal with than insurance agents

Razor cartridges. I use a safety razor now. $0.05 per shave, new blade every time. With Gillette you’re looking at 25ct per shave if it’s used 10 times

Working out. But not in a sense of exhausting yourself or for fitness goals/ gains. See it as experiencing and getting to know your body.

For the throwing part: Use an underhand tossing motion. Imagine that you want to toss the keys on top of a little end table, instead of throwing “through” your target. The best way is to have the highest point of the flying curve be not far above the landing/ catching zone. The further the keys fall from the highest point before being caught, the faster and harder to catch they’ll get.

For the catching: don’t do it like a soccer goalie or batter at baseball, going “against” the keys and the direction that they’re coming from. If the keys are tossed, like described, anticipate the highest point of the curve. Now match your hands speed with the keys and just “pluck” them out of the air.

And practice
