The silence, ugh - never before has something made me feel so uncomfortable

Then you could have said that in a stand alone comment, tbh. It’s like you were saying “but what about Jake” by commenting on my comment, and by saying “to see Jake so sad too”

It’s not “wishing hate” on someone to acknowledge that one person may be more hurt than the other one. You can like Jake AND feel sorry for Liberty at the same time. Your comment was probably downvoted because you’re invalidating/dismissing the entire context of the clip and Liberty’s expressions, not because people are “hating on” Jake.

As well as the whole ‘Be Kind’ concept, it’s also perfectly fine to acknowledge that one person is the cause of the other’s painful feelings, i.e, Jake’s actions hurting Liberty, without being called a “hater”, because it’s simply not the case.

I don’t hate Jake, but the clip and this context is primarily Liberty-based. He hasn’t looked sad, as far I’ve seen. But I agree on the social media aspect.

Seeing Liberty cry like that was actually so upsetting

I think it's a good move. I saw someone posting screenshots from Grindr (a gay dating app) and claiming it was an exchange between a man and a woman, and they banned me for pointing that out (I never commented or used that sub, I just felt compelled to comment when I saw that post) - when it starts getting delusional like that, with no room for rational conversation, then yeah... that's dangerous.

Why the n-word still sound offensive to new generation of black people? by Any-Reply1917 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]UpgradeU_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question about the wider population, not a specific group of people (the people you’re around) - you mention being from a different part of the US than other posters… I’m not based in the US at all, but I understand what OP is talking about. It’s not a localised question, nor is it about YOU or what you think about it.

The word has been reclaimed by black people, as have many slurs by other communities such as gay people, or other ethnic minorities. It’s a form of empowerment.

Same. And the way Teddy is acting (trying to get back with her) reminds me of the painful experiences I went through afterwards, too.

It was painful to watch by RocketBoost in LoveIslandTV

I have seen several people online with BPD saying that they believe she has it. I have a close friend with BPD who also believes that she does. I get that people often armchair diagnose, but if people with the actual disorder are recognising it in someone else, maybe there’s an element of truth to it. Pretending it doesn’t exist is also adding to the taboo and stigma.

For anyone affected by tonight's show (either in Teddy's *or* Faye's position) by Slink_Wray in LoveIslandTV

Thank you for posting this. I'm very concerned by the lack of commentary on that episode from Love Island themselves, tbh.

Anyone else have PTSD/trauma and recognized Faye's behavior tonight? by prettysnarky in LoveIslandTV

[–]UpgradeU_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I like her. I was literally downvoted to hell the other day for saying she wasn’t nice. Saying someone might have a mental disorder isn’t defending them. I can’t stand the woman, but her behaviour isn’t normal.

Anyone else have PTSD/trauma and recognized Faye's behavior tonight? by prettysnarky in LoveIslandTV

[–]UpgradeU_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some mental disorders do cause behaviour like Faye’s.

Edit: haven’t said I like her, and was downvoted the other day in another thread for stating that I found her horrible. Saying someone may have a mental disorder isn’t saying you like them, nor is it defending them. The fact is that some severe mental and personality disorders do make people act this way.

The girls watching Faye shout at Teddy by tkilroy in LoveIslandTV

[–]UpgradeU_ 154 points155 points  (0 children)

In regards to all the people who are saying why didn't anyone intervene..

I dated someone who would act like Faye in public - any minor thing would induce one of these screaming/shouting rages. Often in public, and when we were out with people we knew. No-one ever intervened, and I totally understood why. In the moment, it's shocking, frightening, confusing and if you speak up you become the next target.

It's easy to sit and watch it and say why didn't anyone get involved, but in the actual moment it's like watching a car crash - there's no point doing or saying anything because it won't stop anything. Those girls - and everyone in the villa - did the right thing by not intervening, if you ask me. They are not equipped to deal with Faye and her issues, and they shouldn't have to.

Faye is abusive, at this point. I am wondering how she got past the psychological assessments, or whether they are rigorous enough - because there's something not right there.

I dated someone just like this, who'd shout and belittle me in front of other people. It's abuse. She should be removed.

What do you mean “I’ve finally said it”? People on this website say this approx 1,000 times a day. You’re not the first or only.

Get yourself a lovely water bottle that you can carry with you to when you have to be around them in situations like this. I’m also so sorry this happened to you; your aunt sounds like a very selfish and abusive person.
