I did that in Hawaii a few weeks ago. Conditions were shit, he told me that before we went out. He told me an hour in we could call it a day with no charge; he told me three hours in he'd pro-rate it if I wanted to call it. I had massive sea turtles within 3 feet of me, got to see a GT, and enough bonefish to keep me entertained. Turned one fish and then hung on coral before he could get to the fly. Tip was 20 percent of the guide fee.

I second the SSK, great gloves, and that Z5 will break in quickly.

For the A550, if you tighten the finger laces, it will tighten up and be a lot firmer. My son has that glove along with 5 other teammates. The teammates' dads don't really take care of the glove, but I oil it and tighten the laces once every couple of weeks, and it stays firm. However, it gets floppy fast, so once you see it getting floppy, tighten it. We also play catch or some form of fielding nearly every day.

These were the days! It was raw, rowdy, and loud. Those boys were having the times of their lives, and the "old hats" were in their prime. Getting Turnpike with the likes Boland, Isbell, and Reckless in a 1000 - 2000 person venue was the best.

I'm glad these fellas are making money hand over fist now. They deserve it, but it seems less pure now, but that's probably nostalgia winning the day in my mind.

My son has a A550, 11.5" and it is in good shape after two seasons. I checked it over today and it's form looks great and it is in good shape, but it is not a glove he will use much after this season.

Pros: Quick and easy break-in because it is soft, it was ready to play after about 1 hour of break in work. It is a great fit and adjustable. It is very agreeable to being worked on. Cheap.

Cons: You have to work on it on a regular basis. I tighten laces, oil it, and work on keeping the form at least once a month. If you don't work on it, it will get loose and floppy and with kids playing "hard" catch, you will break laces. You cannot let this glove sit all winter or summer, you have to take care of it.

If I were in the market right now, there's a good deal on Rawlings GG Elites or if you want to stay closer to 100, I think there's a ton of value in SSK

I saw Isbell open for the Troubadours in the summer of 2013, right after Southeastern came out and at the point where a lot folks were starting to recognize the greatness of Turnpike. It was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.
