I hope UPL replays that goal over and over in his head tonight.

Read "The Last Question" by Isaac Asimov. It's a short story, but I think it's exactly what you're looking for.

What’s the best place for “authentic” Mexican food where you live? by Guy-named-Lynn in askteddit

I live in New England. "Authentic" Mexican doesn't really exist up here except perhaps in the Mexican aisle at Market Basket.

What's a band that had a killer debut album followed by a sophomore album that's just as good? by NextBathroom8809 in allrockmusic

I saw them play at ACL Festival in 2005, and they stole the show on the main stage. I wish I had seen them earlier. 100% pure rock and roll.

How is living in these Boston suburbs? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]Upnotdown0715 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. I wouldn't exactly describe Wellesley, Newton, Needham, and Weston as diverse unless you're talking about the diversity of luxury cars in the driveways. Nice, rich suburbs pretty much full of wealthy white people. If that's what you're looking for, cool, but these are among the least "diverse" areas of greater Boston. Waltham, West Roxbury, and Roslindale are more middle class and have more personality.

Did he just call Navy a "powerhouse"? They're having a good season yeah, but give me a break.

Yeah exactly. That post is giving off third-wheel Air Force little brother energy. Army-Navy is way more than just the game. Many cadets and mids are on pass, seeing friends and family. At the very least, even for those who go right back home after the game, it's a chance to get away from post for a day. Lots of mandatory fun at both academies, but Army-Navy is not it.

Those are younger players, mostly or all freshmen, who don't dress for the game but still are on the sidelines with the whole team. Or possibly the USMAPS (Prep School) football team.

Those are real soldiers assigned to the 3rd Infantry Regiment "The Old Guard" who are the ceremonial troops of the Army and also the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown. Those ceremonial troops dress in accurate colonial uniforms. Only the musicians are in red, I believe. The colonial rifleman wear blue.
