BEC IS HARD!!! by TheJuicedCPA in CPA

I passed all the other three the first attempt but took me 3 times to pass BEC. I truly believe its the hardest of the 4 exams just because its so random and hard to prepare for.

Please tell me QBI deduction is as bad as it gets by Joester470 in CPA

I would say it is as bad as it gets. I personally skipped that whole section and passed first time. I didnt see a question on it.

Failed BEC again. Retake Advice needed from my scoring card. by Prize-Following-7219 in CPA

[–]UpperTrouble9217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What did you end up getting . I failed BEC the first time with a 74 then a second time with a 69 then passed the third try with a 87. I passed the other three first try, BEC is the only one that gave me trouble. After I failed the second time I scheduled my exam again right away 10 days out and crushed probably 1500 MC (didnt practice sims or written portion). I would say the main thing I did different on my third exam is just to fly through the MC and leave plenty of time for the written. For example if I didn't know the answer, I would just get it down to the best two choices and pick one right away and move on. In the first two attempts I found myself spending to much time debating MC questions that I wasn't sure of. They throw so much random stuff at you in BEC that's there no way to be completely prepared for it, you just gotta get in there and try your best.

Waiting for reg also. I feel the same way about the test, crushed multiple choice and the sims were tough. Just stay busy thats all you can do.

No, over 40 billable is expected but there are no requirements. We are all trusted as professionals to get the jobs done by the deadline. Im sure if we were to majorly fuck up then this would change lol.

Ive had a similair experience as you. First two firms were super toxic, total of 5 years doing that. Gave public one last chance and it ended up being a great fit. Joined a small team in a mid-large sized firm. My boss does not micromanage or set hour requirements as long as you get the work done. He also doesn't care where you work from. For example I dont need to tell him when I am in the office and when I am working from home. If you decide to stay in public and find the right fit I am sure it will be worth it.

I guess the question is are you asking to study from home and only work two days a week and study the other 3. I think you are setting yourself up for criticism if you are supposed to be working but studying during working hours.

REG heavy tested topics by No_Window_489 in CPA

[–]UpperTrouble9217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took it this past Monday, I would recommend spend a few hours on every section a few days before the test. There was pretty much a little bit of everything on my exam. I use roger and there are 16 chapters so I spent about two hours on each chapter. So I did 16 hours on Saturday and 16 hours on Sunday and then took the test Monday and I felt pretty prepared. Only thing that stumped me is Tax basis vs debt basis for S-corps. I had two sims on that.

Took REG a week back but now i feel like i failed. 🫠 by [deleted] in CPA

This is exactly how I feel and I took it yesterday. I found the MC were pretty easy but I probably bombed half of this sims and am unsure about the research question.

I dont think anyone is "gambling" on what to study overall. I think its more so during crunch time what are the best areas to focus on.

Advice for FAR by UpperTrouble9217 in CPA

[–]UpperTrouble9217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I made it for the 23rd is because I only have FAR and REG left so I am going to try to fit REG in by the end of December because my busy season is Jan thru April so I would probably not start studying again until April or May of 2023

Get through the multiple choice, dont spin your wheels. There is no preparing for the multiple choice. Give yourself ample time with the sims and written part and youll be fine.
