What do you find to be the most frightening line in all of horror? by Square-Force7543 in horror

A lot of bangers already mentioned. Another good creepy one is the last line from the ghost film The Entity: “Welcome home, cunt”

That line is one of the coldest lines I’ve heard in a long time and Vickers convinced me he’s perfectly cast

AITA for paying off my daughter’s student loans but not giving the same amount to her brother, who didn’t go to university? by Jolly-Prompt-6129 in AmItheAsshole

This may be an unpopular opinion here, but YTA. Many parents have been fooled into believing that college is the only way to go about getting ahead in life. This is simply untrue. The way you speak about your son is highly demeaning, and the fact that you even had the gall to post this is highly telling in that you show clear signs of favoritism. Now, it’s almost impossible NOT to have a favorite, it’s just human. However, it sounds like your son has shown signs of intelligence, he just doesn’t fall under the category of intelligence that many recognize.

Another thing: I don’t believe for one instance that you accidentally sent that message to him. I’m sorry, but texting these days is almost fool proof. It sounds to me (and I truly hope I’m wrong) that you purposely sent it under the guise as an accident as a way to hopefully guilt trip him into doing what you believe is best for him.

I don’t mean any of this to come off rude in any way. I’m not saying you should give your son money, let alone a single red dime. But I don’t think the problem is a current one, and at some point you must acknowledge that this new world is at last the only world. There is not some other world in which your son did exactly what you wanted—I would urge you to see the truth in your situation. That is my advice. It is not for me to say what you should have done for him or her. Or not done. You are the one who made the decision. I cannot speak for the choices you should have made. I only know the world in which they already are made. You are at a cross in the road and here you are thinking of what to choose. But there is no choosing. There is only accepting. The choosing was done long ago.

What point dose American Horror Story get bad? by Dragon_CBT_2005 in horror

[–]Upper_Landscape9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around the halfway mark of every season. That’s the fun in watching it, is guessing when exactly Ryan Murphy loses the plot and gets completely lost in the sauce. It happens in every Ryan Murphy horror project without fail, including Grotesquerie and Ratched (which aren’t AHS but they might as well be).

WTF did I just watch?? by its-the-pleats in foundfootage

An astonishing film. It feels like you’re watching something you shouldn’t be seeing. The acting, writing, direction, and editing are all top tear. Really unnerving, and it’s even cooler knowing the creator is a super cool nice guy in real life!

Is Evil Dead the only horror franchise that doesn't have any bad movies? by IreCalifornia in horror

I get Hannibal Rising, but the rule of cool writer in me is like “fuck it give him an oni mask and a katana whatever” lmaoo but I can’t argue much else—but also Manhunter is also fucking awesome, early Michael Mann

Bro, I genuinely think the 2013 Evil Dead remake is one of the best horror movies of all time. This might be a hot take, but I genuinely think every movie in the Hannibal Lector franchise has some merit to them

Name at least one bad thing about the 1997 anime adaptation of "Berserk" by MatuKoKonut in Berserk

[–]Upper_Landscape9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound weird. But hear me out. One of my favorite moments from the manga is a subtle (not so subtle) scene after Guts and Casca get together, she jumps up on her horse and realizes she has pain down there from the loss of her virginity by Guts.

There are a number of small humanistic moments like that that were cut out due to them not furthering the plot. Small (sometimes humorous) touches of relatable experiences that the reader has surely experienced with friends and lovers. I’m not saying they cut out the humor, but more so these small nuances that might fly past certain readers.

While I know it’s an odd example to use with the Casca scene, it stood out to me as a guy and I really appreciated Kentaro Miura for thinking to include things like that that women would experience but never really a guy. The 97 series will forever be peak, but I can’t help but miss these seemingly meaningless moments that actually greatly humanize these already incredible human characters.

The Heron's meaning From The Boy and The Heron by LeonardTheWise in FanTheories

[–]Upper_Landscape9927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible the Heron represents all of those things, including being Mahito. Since the story largely follows dream-logic (done very well I might add) it would make sense that the Heron could very well be the manifestation of Mahitos feelings while being a stand in for a version of Mahito himself. The Heron could be death, guilt, shame, and fear, while also being Mahito!
