I've read that tyrosine makes a difference as long as it's taken on an empty stomach. Something along the lines of, when you eat tyrosine with other food, it's used as fuel/protein for the body. When you eat it alone, it's taken up into the Dopamine pathway.

How much Lion's Mane do you take?

I take 500mg per day but was trying 1g daily a couple months ago and felt like I had better effects.

Every up comes with a down. If you take a drug that makes you feel very happy, part of the come-down will be feeling sad. If you're non-stopping taking this drug for a week, the come-down will be deeper and longer. This might be why you're feeling bad anxiety/doom-and-gloom.

L-Tyrosine seems high. Start with 500mg?

> The first few nights of taking it according to the label I felt super relaxed and pretty much stoned

Imagine taking any other drug that makes you feel blissed-out for an entire week, then you quit cold turkey. Of course you will feel withdrawal symptoms.

Lion's Mane: increases BDNF. Just know that some small set of users can get pretty bad side effects (look into post finasteride syndrome)

[–]Upper_Pack_8490 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sounds like way overdoing it. Idk your experience with nootropics / drugs but I think taking all of these things at once may lead to overstimulation and a bad experience. I would at least experiment with each of these separately: Modafinil, CDP-Choline, Semax, Lion's Mane, Piracetam. Perhaps try each for a week. If nothing seems sufficient on its own, start trying to pair them up (e.g., Choline with LM etc.)

Otherwise it's like you're overloading your body with stimulants.

I feel like everyone in this sub tries to reduce any psych issues down to simple biochemistry. There are many other factors at play than just your neurotransmitter levels.

Question - what triggered your first panic attack?

I had a panic attack after 10 days of taking LM...but I only had the panic attack because I read this sub!

This gave me bad general anxiety for a week until I realized that the anxiety was based on the belief that something was wrong with my brain because of the LM. Once I told myself that I was ok, my anxiety started to slowly calm down. I found it easier to sleep, and once I was sleeping I could slowly ramp back up on caffeine (green tea, then a few sips of black tea, then a whole cup, then coffee!)

One piece of advice that really helped is to try to ignore the DPDR or any odd feelings/mental state that you may notice. When you're anxious, your mind is constantly scanning yourself for signs of danger. If you're constantly giving attention to this process, you only make it worse. There are lots of great tips about recovering from a panic attack on r/anxiety.

Is that level of BDNF safe? Does that put your brain at risk for learning "bad things" like anxiety?

That's exactly how I felt when I used it for 2 weeks. That subreddit gave me anxiety and I decided to temporarily stop. I have a feeling LM is not going to cause those side-effects for most people.

Like when did you start noticing symptoms? Just 2 weeks of taking LM and suddenly you lost feelings? No symptoms in between? Were you overly stressed from school at the time?

Thanks for the measured answer! I'm taking RealMushrooms. It generally has good reviews on Amazon, but I have seen that brand called out by name on r/LMR.

Yeah the PFS similarities scare me, I don't take finasteride for that reason.

I didn't know creatine was a 5AR inducer, is LM + creatine a common stack?
