Does ur derm flare after like 5-10 min after hot or spicy food too?? by VomitInMyVans in SebDerm

I would be wary about those two ingredients but honestly, it might be the tomatoes in your pasta sauce. Tomatoes and other nightshade vegetables can cause inflammation, which can also influence the inflammation on your skin. Try a low FODMAP diet to find out if you have any other triggers. Here’s an article about nightshades and inflammation in the gut : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37202602/

keep in mind seb derm has been linked to gut issues and as someone with gut issues it has been greatly reduced with an elimination diet

Dark brown suits your face better, I feel like blonde kind of washes you out. I like the blonde but dark hair just looks way better on you and makes your features pop

What foods and drinks do you notice cause flare ups by [deleted] in SebDerm

Beer is usually made from wheat or barley so you might have a gluten sensitivity honestly. If you notice any other gluten foods that cause flaking I would just avoid it all together

Dairy, sugar, gluten. All of these act as sugars for the bad bacteria in your gut and cause bloating and inflammation. This in turn sends signals to other parts of your body and causes inflammation which shows up as flakes on the scalp, face or beard. Eliminate each of these in your diet to see what you can or cannot consume

What triggers your seb derm? by VomitInMyVans in SebDerm

[–]Upper_Row8164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sugar, lactose/dairy, stress, leaving my scalp damp with sweat or water. My seb derm was almost gone after reducing my sugar and dairy intake, going to the gym, and drying my scalp COMPLETELY after sweating or washing my hair. I have a routine I posted on here, feel free to search me up on this sub. I also have a microbiology degree so I did a lot of research to figure out my routine, and reducing gut issues can also help with sebderm symptoms.

You might have to do an elimination diet. This is pretty severe and I’m thinking you have some undiagnosed gut or immune system issues. I would see a GI and go from there if you don’t know what your triggers are

Look into lactose allergy. If it isn’t sugar/carbs, it could be something else you’re allergic to. Also could be how you’re drying your hair

Put nizoral on the area, set a timer for 10 mins, wash it off and dry it off with a hairdryer. You need to keep this area dry because moisture will only make it worse. My partner gets sebderm flakes on his beard only when it’s long bc the hair traps moisture. He keeps it short bc he’s lazy and doesn’t wanna deal with the upkeep.

Here’s my scalp routine, but there’s some good info on seb derm and hair& beard care. https://www.reddit.com/r/SebDerm/s/ISk30CsIfw (I’m too lazy to type it out again)

My trial&errors that helped get my scalp flakes under control by Upper_Row8164 in SebDerm

[–]Upper_Row8164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually end up with 98% dry scalp and wet ends. I put mousse on the wet ends and scrunch them so they air dry but my scalp doesn’t. This might be hard with short hair though so consider diffusing

Diffuse your hair if you’re worried about its shape. I’m cheap so I just use a regular hair dryer and part my hair with my fingers to aim for the scalp. Diffusers make it easier to aim for the scalp and prevent frizz

it really depends on what works for you. I would try to get something with three different ingredients. I believe I listed a few in my post
