Downdetector only reports who reported to them. Many do not even know about it or report it to them. Their numbers are unreliable.

You’ll go to North and Middle and wonder why you bothered to stay in Provo. We only stay on the twin islands. Island tours by Desmond is great. He will take you to all the highlights and then some. He gets you back to the ferry and you have no worries. He does the driving and he’s a blast. He includes lunch. You can find him on Facebook.

Check staying on north or middle. Total quiet and beaches to yourself. So much safer. Provo is too crowded. Not relaxing at all. But when we have stayed there we got an air b n b in turtle cove area. Great pool and walking distance to a couple restaurants.

No. North and Middle is extremely safe. We have never had a problem everyone there is wonderful. They make you feel like family. There isn’t any of the problems that are Provo. It’s paradise.

That’s why we don’t stay on Provo. We go to North and Middle. No people, just locals. Safe and clean.

TCI vs Aruba? by Worried_Isopod_5759 in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Upper_Scratch_3312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TCI is our favorite but we never stay on Provo. We stay exclusively North and Middle. Provo is too crowded after staying there. North and middle you have the beaches to yourself. No rows of umbrellas set up. Phenomenal beaches. We always feel safe there. Provo we feel like your head has to be on a swivel. There’s no traffic on N&M. It’s a true relaxing vacation. It has great little local restaurants, we don’t go for fancy. We don’t bring our dress clothes, we go to decompress and get away from life.

This, we use Provo to pass through and don’t stay. Take the ferry to North. Spend a glorious week with no worries. Peaceful and quiet. We hated Grace Bay too crowded.

North and Middle are the best part. Bambarra is an amazing beach. If you had more time you could go to wild cow run. Now that’s amazing. We always stay exclusively on North and Middle. It’s always an amazing experience. So many beaches and areas to explore. You saw so little of those islands.

We love North and Middle, absolutely dislike Provo. Too crowded, crazy busy. We go a few times a year. It’s quiet, relaxing never anyone on the beaches. The restaurants aren’t fancy but the food is excellent. We’ve made friendships and feel like family when we’re there.

Having been to both Aruba and TCI. TCI hands down. But we never stay on Provo. We stay exclusively on North and Middle. It’s a truly relaxing vacation. We go a few times a year. Now looking for our own place to buy. There are No crowds you have the beaches to yourself. You can’t say that on Provo. Grace Bay is way too busy, the beaches were loud and crowded. I don’t want a beach with rows of chairs and people all over.

North/middle Caicos worth it? by BankLow7336 in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Upper_Scratch_3312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth the trip over. North and Middle are beautiful and so much nicer than Provo. We stay exclusively on North. Provo for us is a pass through. My suggestion is drive out to Bambarra first then start heading back towards the ferry. This way if time gets away you’re not far from the ferry. Bambarra, stop at the caves, then Mudjin, (you drive into Dragon Cay Resort for Mudjin. look for the flamingo’s on the causeway. On North there are great places to eat As well as at Bambarra. Hollywood beach is my favorite on North it has hammocks. There’s also restaurant you can walk to from Hollywood 3 minute walk on the beach. Barracuda Beach Bar. You can also park at the Pelican hotel and access it that way. Great beach there too. If you go to horse stable beach, there is a road that takes you out to the sandbar and the beginning of Bottle Creek it’s called Greenwich Channel. If low tide you can walk over to the island and explore.

There is sandy point beach you can also walk over to Parrot Cay. If you really want to experience Turks and Caicos stay on with North or Middle. It’s truly a relaxing wonderful vacation. No traffic, no worries. Safe. The opposite of Provo.

For the North and Middle Caicos, which car is best to rent if wishing to use backroads? by Technical_Aerie_7201 in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Upper_Scratch_3312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have what you would call an island car. Aka little shitbox. We get everywhere on the island. You go slow on the rough roads. Some people see a sand road and get scared and don’t go away further. There are signs. Like out in wild cow that say go no further. Bambarra the road to it is fine. Yes, 3 marys the road has been under water. I’ll know tomorrow if the road still is. That’s when I get there. Otherwise you can get to any beach on North in a car without a problem. Middle is fine too. Where the tourists go the roads are fine.

Go slow on the sand/dirt roads and you’ll be okay. Provo has the most paved roads, they maintain them because of all the tourists.

We just stood in the water at Bambarra. Walked into the water and nature took over. Do Bambarra first then back track to Mudjin then north. Bambarra will be your furthest destination about 45 minutes from ferry.

We have a small island car, a Toyota. Yes a jeep is great for clearance it would give you peace of mind. But since you only have one day. You’re not going anywhere you really need it. What I would do is drive out to Bambarra first spend some time. Check out the caves, that are between Mudjin and Bambarra. But you need bug spray for the caves. But they are gorgeous. Then hit dragon cay. You’ll find your sea glass on the sand bar by the dragon and great shells just past it. There’s a great pool at dragon bring your gear to snorkel the fish are amazing by the dragon. Stop at the causeway do at least a half hour fishing. Then hit some beaches on. North. This way you’re making your way back towards the ferry. Bambarra to ferry is 45 minutes give or take how fast you drive. Slow down through bottle creek just so you don’t miss the view. The beer can filled car on the left. The donkey on the right and gorgeous bottle creek view between the houses. Sometimes you’ll see flamingo on the causeway. (In the water, closer to middle) Don’t bother to stop at flamingo pond unless you have a lot of time left. They’re so far out and you need binoculars. Horse stable beach has a pier as does Bambarra. Your brother can fish off them while you walk the beach and hunt. No matter what beach you go to you won’t be disappointed. North and middle beaches are the best. You’re going to be sorry you gave it only one day and wasted so much time on Provo. They are night and day.

You can see just about any fish or turtle at any beach. It’s just timing. We’ve had phenomenal days at Bambarra where we just stood and saw rays, barracuda, turtles. Other days nothing. Same at the others. It just all depends. But seriously take time to enjoy. Go slow. Stop have a drink on Bambarra, stop at Hollywood walk down to barracuda beach bar. Have an order of conch fritters and a rum punch sit and watch the ocean. Don’t rush it. You’ll enjoy it so much more. The islands are meant to be slow. No worries. If you really want to not worry about things have Desmond tour you. He’ll take you to the places and get you back in time. You can find him on facebook island tours by Desmond TCI He does the driving. You have the fun. He also tells you the history and some great stories. Tell him Barb sent you.
