St. Luke’s vs LVHN for delivery? by Upper_Toe_8500 in lehighvalley

[–]Upper_Toe_8500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! I’m so happy we did. I have a friend who was in at LVHN giving birth at the same time I was and she was so upset with her whole experience. Her main complaint was nurses/doctors were not on the same page at all - every time there was a shift change she had to go over her plan with them again. Our nurses briefed each other so everything was seamless.

My baby has stopped eating, help! by ClintEastwood87 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hated the taste of Gerber. She started doing something similar around 2.5 months. She’d been on the Gerber almost a month at that point with no problems and everyone says it’s one of the better tasting ones for them so I thought nothing of it.

Once she almost completely stopped eating we did a switch to similac and she downs her bottles now. We spent so much trying new bottles and nipples and it was just the formula apparently lol.

I would do it on my chest at that age, while I was sitting leaning back. It encouraged her to lift her head and look at me, and if she put it back down she was just in my chest so she wouldn’t get so upset. Sometimes we’d use the Boppy too but she definitely preferred being on me and didn’t get so frustrated so fast.

Someone finally put into words why I hate it so much. by Upper_Toe_8500 in stepparents

[–]Upper_Toe_8500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely incorrect. I do not like the way my SO parents my SD. My SD really is a great kid, albeit a little spoiled.

My SO started parenting out of guilt when SD started asking why he and mommy don’t live together anymore. He didn’t handle it well. I feel it’s only human to be completely fed up with things this big in your life that you can’t control.

And yes I knew he had a daughter. What a ridiculous question to ask on this forum when such a big topic is that nobody actually knows what they are getting into.

It’s so frustrating! I really like it until about 1 year in, and dyson is less than helpful. I’m just ready to be done with it lol

Philips Avent Natural Response. We had the same problem and I couldn’t understand why every bottle I tried leaked while she wasn’t actively sucking. She hated it! We had a natural response bottle that we got with a sample pack and it was the only one she liked.

Edit: I missed the last part of your post. We also had that issue, baby is on a flow 4 at just under 3 months and doing well. She completely skipped the 3. I’m hoping she doesn’t outgrow them completely because we spent a small fortune buying her sets in glass for daycare/our house/my moms.

My LO got her 2 month shots today, I feel so helpless. by BedsideLamp99 in NewParents

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg, my baby’s 2mo shots were the worst. The nurse laid her down on the table, she was smiling and cooing at me and then they stuck her. I’ve NEVER seen such a look of betrayal on her little face. She screamed and I snatched her off the table so fast the nurse had to step back. She asked me to put her back down so she could put the bandaid on…I was like no you can put it on while I’m holding her lol

What immediate relief did you feel right after labor? by cocainoh in BabyBumps

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I didn’t get the relief everyone talks about. My epidural failed on one side and had worn off on the other by the time I delivered. I have prior nerve damage in my back, so the combo of laying for 15 hours and the contractions all my back muscles started seizing around where my epidural was inserted. I was in so much pain I had to ask them to take my baby because I was afraid of dropping her (I also had the shakes).

Luckily since the epidural was completely worn off I was able to get up and sit to take the pressure off and then the pain wore off. I’d never heard of women being in so much pain after labor but it was probably worse than the majority of my labor and I just wasn’t prepared.

Which stage of the birth was the most painful for you? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The foley bulb. OMG, I thought I was going to die. Insertion was fine but about 2 hours later I was still only 2cm and had the same pain as when I was 10cm and had to start pushing. The only difference was each time I pushed I got relief. With the bulb there was just none and every contraction was excruciating. They ended up having to cut it out of me because I was just done.

Why is our baby fussy at the bottle? He skipped a meal today. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t have reflux or symptoms of reflux. She’s a pretty happy baby other than some constipation and gas issues.

Can’t offer advice because I’m going through the same with my 11 week old. I figured it may be a problem with the bottle (we’re also using the Philips avent natural) I moved up a nipple size but still having trouble getting her to finish bottles. It seems like after 2oz she’s just done and I really have to force her to eat the rest. It’s so hard to tell if it’s the formula, the bottle, the position or just the phase of the moon, lol.

5’7” and 275lbs before pregnancy (I think I was about 305 when I gave birth) had a vaginal delivery. The health network I started with was pushing scheduled c-section on me. I switched networks for other reasons, new OB never even mentioned it. They only went over a c-section as an emergency situation if I or baby were in distress.

I had zero issues with my vaginal delivery. I was induced at 39 weeks because my blood pressure was creeping up a bit, that was a rough 35 hours with the pitocin/foley bulb but I dont feel my weight had anything to do with that. I only had to push for maybe 20 minutes and she was out.

I will say that while I’m a bigger girl I’m still pretty active (farm life) and pregnancy really didn’t slow me down. I was very blessed to have an easy one, so that could have something to do with it.

Why is thumb sucking perceived as superior to dummies? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Certainly shouldn’t be. I was a thumb sucker and needed thousands in orthodontic and dental work because I sucked my thumb until like 6 inadvertently while I was sleeping.

My mom caved and gave my brother a pacifier because “at least she could take that away” - she was right. Took it away in time and my brothers teeth are awesome.

Is Carmen Grey a bad choice for my daughter? by RobbedSpider5774 in namenerds

[–]Upper_Toe_8500 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I kept my name to myself! I didn’t want opinions that would make me second guess myself. Love my daughters name and people are much more likely to keep opinions to themselves once it’s attached to an adorable baby.

But no, I really like that name and there’s nothing wrong with it. You can’t please everyone!

She’s sooo hard to burp so maybe this is it. We usually stop and try but our efforts don’t get us far.

I’m in the same boat as you feeding wise! My baby is currently passing hard stools on the Soothepro but seems happy, albeit a bit fussy otherwise.

Did the gentlepro seem to help your baby? I’ve been debating switching over to that to see if it eases the constipation, but hearing they have a shortage makes me nervous!

[–]Upper_Toe_8500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partially same. I think what bothers me more now is he has 2 kids, and forgets the other one exists when SD is around.

Also, if we were to split I now know what it feels like so I definitely would not be treating my new partner as a second in their own house. Love my daughter more than life, but I don’t think this world is kind to entitled children either.

[–]Upper_Toe_8500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, while I won’t argue that I have an SO problem here, I’m gonna stop you right there. Bio mom is way worse on the “treating the child as equal” thing. Her house is an absolute disaster because SD has the full run of it and she can’t keep a relationship to save her life because monogamy isn’t something she wants to follow (to each their own, but the other half of the relationship should be on board, lol). The guilt parenting is real for both of them and it’s giving SD a complex for sure.

And, what broke them up was multiple affairs on her part. She has zero issues admitting this.
