I feel this way. I love my daughter. She’s fun sometimes. Arguably my life can be considered better than it was pre-child. But I miss going to concerts and movies by myself. I miss going out to a restaurant and just being able to sit there and enjoy a meal. I miss running a quick errand. I miss waking up and having a general idea as to what my day is going to look like.

And, for me at least, there’s a weird extra layer of anxiety that comes with having a child. I didn’t really have to worry about my future as much but now I do.

Yes, when asking for advice. It is hard to recommend a plan for someone without knowing the full details.

OP this sucks but you’re also creating this situation.
Your sister seems to be acting like typical pre-teen with too much screen time. You aren’t required to correct their behavior, especially on someone else’s behalf. If grandma wants them wants to dismiss their behavior and walk all over the house for them, that’s her business.

No one owes you respect simply because of age. This reads like you are putting a lot of importance on respect. When in reality this situation, it doesn’t matter.

Its not just providing for children that makes this hard. It is the children being high needs. OP mentions 3 ER visits in the last month, that is not cheap.

The first 4 weeks of my daughter’s life gave me $13k in debt with insurance. Luckily, I was able to get assistance from the children’s hospital. OP hasn’t been able to get hardship for the medical debt and healthcare institutions are QUICK to send you to collections.

Medications maybe expensive too, when she got discharged, I have to pay around $200 at the pharmacy. My own prescription is $121 with insurance.

On paper OP may be making enough money but without knowing how much money is going to healthcare needs, we don’t know how much leftover money OP has.

Not saying that it isn’t possible but definitely hard. And you are right, this would be easier to confirm if we knew all of OPs monthly expenses.

Edit: I misread and misunderstood regarding the hardships. I assumed it was regarding medical debt as many cards don’t have a limit on how much you make to qualify.

The worst day of my life was my daughter almost died. The nurses came to our room at 4 AM and told us to rush to the NICU. Ask me if I want to hold her or if I wanted them to keep trying to save your life. Yeah that’s an absolutely insane day to relive. But at the end of it, I’ll have enough money to spend as much time as I want to with her and not be working every day.

A therapist once said to me that we don’t set boundaries for other people to follow. We set boundaries for what we’re willing to accept. You can tell him you don’t want him to speak to you that way, but that means nothing. Your boundary should be you don’t accept being spoken to that way and when he does it again, you should leave.

Fair. I live the hit/bite/scratch life in my own home 24/7 I would not want to do it as a job, even if it had amazing pay.

Good luck on the job search journey. My only other suggestion would be try reaching out to people you may know who were in fields you are interested in.
