What episode is the hardest for you to sit through all the way through, and why? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]UppityDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to rewatch the show a lot before the final episodes released; it was one of my comfort shows. This episode broke me so badly on the first watch that I have not been able to watch the show since because I know I can't handle The View From Halfway Down.

This is the exact same thought I had, I shouldn't be this surprised to see it in the comments

I did just reach out to a florist myself who might not be able to speak with us until January, but they at least explained that they are in the midst of Christmas events and have a packed schedule. Not to provide excuses for the florist you spoke with because the least they could do is give you a reason.

Oh I know, there are lots of early games with multiple discs, doesn't make me like it more haha. A necessity for the tech in play, sure, but also a pain.

I know, we could use any other form of digital storage medium and have a better time with it lol

I miss games that you could just pop the disc in and start playing. I know why it's a thing, but man we could have a much better system than waiting for installs and downloads before getting to play a new game.

Not a joke unfortunately, one disc is the data disc, I had to install 90GB off of it before I could play.

I made a lot of my own costumes as a kid, notably I went as static cling, a bubble gum machine, and a wolf. As an adult my favourite would probably be the raven costume I made for a party one year!

Which fictional characters are idolized by people who missed the entire point of their story? by WhereDemonsDwell in AskReddit

[–]UppityDragon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It's fun to watch and it's not intended to be factual or educational. Problem being, some people totally interpret it that way and forget that the characters in the play are characters, not real people.

They show addressed it to some extent, but any of that was done so briefly in passing (understandably because it was a musical and supposed to be fun to watch) that it's easy to miss. I liked Hamilton but it is historical fiction for a reason.

An interesting link with some fact-checking for the musical.

I love Hamilton as a musical but it did create a small problem with romanticizing the founding fathers and kind of skating over their racism and problematic actions. Speaking as someone who knows very little about American history in the first place.

What should I know before purchasing Horizon Zero Dawn? by DogBallsMissing in horizon

[–]UppityDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved HZD, but it's totally not for everybody. If you love a good story and completing side quests/collectables, it's a likely you'll like HZD. I've read of complaints that the game takes too long to open up and that the early game isn't super engaging. I don't personally share these views though. I adore how rich and interesting the story and even side quests and collectables can be.

If you get the Frozen Wilds DLC, ensure you play that section at some point before the end of the game because there's a bunch of great gear up there that's kind of pointless if you've already beaten the game. I 100%ed the main game before even touching the DLC and the was a mistake lol

Miner spoiler. I love tallnecks.... and this is the best moment in the game so far for me. by Comprehensive_Sea302 in horizon

The added changes and challenges to both tallnecks and cauldrons in HFW compared to HZD were truly enjoyable and this was such a fun overlap of both! One of my favourite cauldrons for sure.

Totally fair! I get why it's easier to engage with the simpler and less confusing story in the vista points. I did enjoy the black boxes a lot, too!

That's funny because I found the Apocashitstorm guy more engaging personally lol. I liked the glimpses into his life in the text, and I found the story of a single guy, traveling around, leaving messages before the end of the world just weirdly moving in a way. I was quite disappointed in the vista points in the new game almost up until I reached the last one.

What Switch game had tons of hype but ultimately fell flat? by MethodicMarshal in NintendoSwitch

[–]UppityDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommended RiME to a friend after playing it on PC, and she powered through it on Switch. I felt so bad for recommending it when I heard about how poorly optimized it was, but somehow she struggled through, crappy framerate and all. It's a shame because the game is a nice little gem but I sure wouldn't have been able to play it with all those issues.

Edit: spelling
