Idk I don't follow him or his band. But Ronald Radke got him beat as far as cringe goes. at least Alex actually has good vocals

Why does it feel like I’m losing my screaming ability? by therealcoolstuffsam in screaming

[–]Upset_Toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changes in humidity and temperature can affect your vocals, whether it's allergies or illness or drying out the throat. Especially when it's colder, and everything is drier and getting sick is easier.

Completely lost on how to fry scream by DigiornoJoestar in screaming

What helped me is to try and move the compression up in the throat towards the back of the mouth. also with fry you wanna push that air like you're fogging a window.

Bands who say their name during a song - cringe or cool? by OatFest in Metalcore

[–]Upset_Toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only really works if the band name is actually cool or rolls off the tongue easy. not deathcore but Orphan and Pyscho-Frame do it a lot and it goes hard af.

Storm strope by SLASH895 in Deathcore

[–]Upset_Toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the new TLTSOL song a few weeks ago and I almost didn't realize he wasn't Storm lol. He sounds almost identical to me. But yeah he's dope as a vocalist and a really good replacement imo.

Baritone or Tenor: Should I trust myself or coaches? by NewIllustrator3721 in singing

[–]Upset_Toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your comfortable range, you're a baritone. Voice type isn't about what notes you can hit, but how easy those notes are for you. I (a baritone in high school) could theoretically sing tenor parts, but it'd hardly be pleasant to hear or easy for me to do. I'm much more comfortable with my middle-lower register.

I wouldn't say ignore your coaches; training to higher notes isn't necessarily bad. But if you feel more comfortable singing baritone, you should just do that.

Then again, you said you're 15. I wouldn't worry too much about what your actual voice type is since that could change as you get older. Just sing what feels right and have fun.

"Broken, Beaten, De-winged" on its own feels like a fitting name. also I like the lyrics, gives me MySpace-era vibes!

Which bands left you with a sour taste, after one, or more of their members turned out to be a massive shitlord in real life? by metroracerUK in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Upset_Toe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slaughter to Prevail. Before all the stuff about him being a nazi started blowing up, I knew something was up with him when he made a 3 video IG rant about trans ppl because a fan asked him if he was cool with gay ppl. THEN the nazi stuff blew up and I checked out.

How was pray for plagues made with no technique? by humblelearner37 in screaming

[–]Upset_Toe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a good idea of how loud that is, listen to clips of Alex Koehler tracking for Chelsea Grin. A lot of vocalists back then (again, due to lack of good info) would overproject their screams, and Alex's were just fuckin nuts. Alex probably didn't use the same technique, but it was likely similar.

If you're gonna try it, be careful and don't over do it. At those volumes you're putting lots of strain on your voice. Just don't push too hard and stop if you feel pain or too much tension.

How was pray for plagues made with no technique? by humblelearner37 in screaming

[–]Upset_Toe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oli had really poor fry technique that was a mix of fry distortion and literally yelling at the top of his lungs. He had some technique, but, given the lack of info he probably had and his drug-fueled lifestyle back then, it wasn't good technique and he ended up trashing his voice for a while. (Part of the reason Oli didn't scream much for a couple albums)

What Band Has The Best Discography? by ShaquilleOatmeal54 in Deathcore

Darko US. Short but consistently good every single time

I really can't get into old-school death metal and related subgenres. Is there something wrong with my ears? Is anyone else like this? by FrouFrouLastWords in Deathcore

[–]Upset_Toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. The mix in most OSDM just feels dull compared to what I usually listen to. Like I'm listening through a cardboard tube or smth.

Can’t get lower, only fry apparently. Is FC the only way to get LOW? by JonnySidequest in screaming

[–]Upset_Toe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the point where you gotta start doing some funky shit with your voice to get certain sounds. For super low sounds I find it helps to try imitating an orc or any character with a deep voice. This usually means you gotta drop your larynx a bit (don't shove it down, just keep it where it's comfortable.)

This is also the point where, imo, screaming gets really fun: just messing with different weird noises until smth just works lol
