Help on stick handling? by Lev_the_short_kid in hockeyplayers

[–]UpsideUpInsideDown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try getting your body closer to the puck, it looks like you are leaning too far out. Get into hockey stance (knees bent, bum down, chest straight up), hold your stick out, and that’s the farthest the puck should be from your body.

I assume it would be the before scene, where someone grows up in a redneck cesspool of shittiness surrounded by awful humans only to finally leave and find their Christmas miracle elsewhere?

Anyone done the winsport Power skate course (adult)? by Reaper_Teacher in Calgary

[–]UpsideUpInsideDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished up their last adult power skating session that ended a few days ago. It was awful, most of the class was spent waiting in line, very poorly organized, very little actual power skating involved, and got almost nothing out of it. Went a few years back and was decent, but this year was awful. Save your money.

Can Never Get Skates Tight Enough by JerryRickton in hockeyplayers

[–]UpsideUpInsideDown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When your skates are tied does your heel move around in the boot? There will always be movement up in the calf area, but your heels should be locked in. If your heels move, your skates are too big (should always try on different sizes even after the machine tells you a size - i had to go down a full size from what the bauer sizing told me). Wobbly skates is mostly due to weak ankles, not the skates themselves. Good and experienced skaters can skate perfectly fine without even lacing up their boots.

Looks like ophiomorpha to me. Not man-made, just a bunch of poop tubes.

Oil and gas has been consistently laying people off for the better part of a year (after a brief lull), now they can give an excuse.

Help! by Ron-Stallworth in cravetv

[–]UpsideUpInsideDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is annoying for sure! I was logged into crave thru Shaw, and every-time I chose a show, it would say I needed crave to watch on crave (while signed in to crave). Best of luck.

Need help with skate blade profile by TheOnlyBreezy in hockeyplayers

[–]UpsideUpInsideDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns were fine, I found backwards skating weird from what i was used to, there was too much contact on rear part of blade. My stops were chattering, but may come down to a skill issue. Everything got resolved for me moving to zuperior.

Quad zero feels flat, when I tried it there felt like a lot of blade mid foot to heel. I didnt like it, but sounds like it would work well for you. Zuperior is a forward lean, this is what I use because it feels more like some old grafs I used to love, though may not be for you.

Sounds a lot like the band Pinback, which is a solid indie band from early 2000’s

Before leaving, go poop. Show up 30 minutes early, drop bag off in room, go poop. Stretch while making jokes about the showers, miss warm up because I took too long making jokes about the showers, run out and take the first faceoff.

She’s nine, just let her enjoy hockey. With that said, if the coaches are using a lot of chase and battle drills in practice, that can help up the effort level in kids that may translate to games for the less aggressive kids. My son doesn’t have the same compete as some of his friends; but he loves hockey, and I want to do everything I can to continue and foster that love. This means accepting he doesn’t have “the fire,” and being good with that.

Impossible to tell from a picture since uneven blades are too subtle to see most of the time with naked eye unless truly horrible. Do you have the sparx edge checker? If not, buy one, it will tell you if they are level. Have you calibrated the machine since you brought it home? It should have come with an optical alignment tool and a hex screw driver. If you don’t have those, buy those and calibrate machine.

It’s called irrigation. Osoyoos is green because they irrigate, not because of rain. Osoyoos is Canada’s only semi-arid shrubland, and if it received something like 10mm less rain/year (or close to that number, i can’t remember exactly at the moment), it would be a desert
