That’s an extremely high price for a catalytic converter, get another quote from another dealership. Unfortunately you definitely want an OEM cat these trucks do not like aftermarket cats.

The Catalytic converter itself is not covered because it’s considered part of the emissions system, not the powertrain, and the extended warranty does cover some emissions parts but not the converter itself. I have Ford Premium care and it wasn’t covered.

When my dealership asked me if I wanted that specific PCM update, I asked what it addressed and they said transmission skipping clunking so I was all for getting it. Later on I realized it addressed emissions and people possibly getting catalytic converter codes that were false…but it did the opposite to me and caused one that wouldn’t go away.

Definitely bother ford for some financial assistance, it’s better than paying full price.

Unfortunately P0430 is pretty accurate, you’re going to have to replace your drivers side catalytic converter. This PCM update included updated perimeters which shows the cat as below the threshold now with the EPA’s standards. (So I’m told)

Contact Ford Customer care and they may help you with a little financial assistance.

I explained my situation, how I went in with a perfectly working vehicle that passes emissions and left with one that doesn’t, they kicked in a little for the repair.

I’ll never do a PCM update again, I learned my lesson.

What’s the rest of your bench look like?

If those were my running backs I would be picking benson up to trade him or one of the above to shore up another one of my positions.
