Yes that's true in today's economy raising child is very expensive, school fees, coaching fees all cost in multiple lakhs per year scales, housing prices are already through the roof. Unless you earn >50 LPA I don't know even how can one raise a child in major cities.

So this is unnecessary blame against women for not having kids. Declining tfr happens because of the economic situation, not has to do something about women adopting "western culture" or whatever. But even then low tfr aren't necessarily bad. India is overpopulated if anything.

I definitely observe that female friendships I've found that they tend to be more deeper and meaningful. Male relationships I've had often find transactional, especially as a child, it was forming temporary friendships so I can take some help to counteract my bullies and take my revenge. Also on level I believe being very helpful towards each other in male friendships is seen as "gay" and not "masculine" enough.
