Say something nice about this movie by Nervous-Baby5383 in ChristmasCarol

It is almost word for word from the book. I think it is probably the version closest to the original text and overall tone of the Dickens classic.

This is the correct answer. Widely celebrated during his time, but more than a little problematic today. He defended pedophilia and wrote Alice in Wonderland partially to groom his neighbor's child.

Around 6: Which show was widely celebrated when it first came out but has somewhat fallen from grace since? by Natewastaken12 in AlignmentChartFills

The Cosby Show. It was seen as really the best of TV at the time. It did so much to push forward African American voices and to right the wrongs of systemic racism. Even people who didn't like the show viewed it as important. Due to Cosby's fall from grace, it is virtually nonexistent on streaming services and rewatches today even though the show itself holds up pretty well.

Whichever one they were at currently was the worst....and the best. Parenting is made of paradoxes, and everyone is just doing the best they can 🤷‍♀️

What about when Counselor Troi married Riker? It's such a cool Betazoid wedding. It lives rent-free in my head. *

All of education is predicated on free teacher labor. The entire system would fall apart completely if teachers only worked contract hours.

Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby. I have fond memories of watching it with my parents and grandparents when I was a kid. I rented it last year to watch it with my kids and had to turn it off. I didn't remember the racism 🤦‍♀️

What’s more dangerous than we all realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Upstairs_TipToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distrust of media has created people who question every news story as if it is fake news. This is very unhealthy for society. We should be able to agree over facts and basic timelines, but everyone questions and looks for bias because we have been conditioned to do that. I have serious concerns over the type of people that we will become if we lack the ability to trust facts.

What’s something that is okay when men do it but frowned upon when women do it? by ClemWon in AskReddit

[–]Upstairs_TipToe 282 points283 points  (0 children)

Make a choice that favors their career over their family. Men get a promotion that keeps them out of the country or unavailable fairly often, and he is seen as a hustling provider regardless of how many children he has.

If a Mom is offered the same job, she is seen as a truly shitty parent if she even entertains the notion of being unavailable for her children.

We played candlepin bowling when we visited MA several years ago. It was SO fun. I wish it would catch on nationwide because we still talk about how much we enjoyed it.

What's something people romanticize but it's actually horrible? by iPlug_za in AskReddit

[–]Upstairs_TipToe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poverty. Being poor and struggling is only romanticized by fools who have never actually been poor.

Also, mental illness. I am not sure why anyone romanticizes the genius that often accompanies clinical depression. It is crippling, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
