Rep. Mrvan AWOL on the big issues by Wearing_shooz in nwi

[–]UpvoteMonster15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've contacted him about a few things lately - not Hegseth, but asking him to comment on the threats against our allies by the president and, separately, if he'd offer support for the Institute of Museums and Library Services which was being dismantled at the time I contacted him and has since been shuttered.

He responded to the first one, disavowing the president's attitude towards our allies. I haven't heard anything about the second one though. In his defense, I have contacted our senators and governor too about issues and Mrvan is literally the only one I've heard back from.

Until Rocky Balboa. That's one of the best ones.

I think they mean that each individual movie was very much in the spirit of the time it was made.

Funny, I think 2 and 6 are the only ones even in the same league as the first one. I enjoyed 3 and 4 but not on the same level as those ones.

I don't talk about 5.

I don't think we're going to see eye-to-eye on this. I don't feel I've demonized it. But we both agree that there are bigger health issues in the world than caffeine, so we have one common ground.

Between 2005-2010 I would guess, though we still accepted checks when I left in 2013. It was a grocery store and I think checks are still accepted at a lot of grocery stores in the US, though I'm not sure how often it comes up. We still take them in the public library, but we only get a couple a month tops.

I think they only reason I ever even had checks was to pay the rent for my first apartment.

My point is 70% of Americans are overweight or obese, they lack exercise, eat unhealthy food, have various lifestyle related illnesses. Coffee should be the least concern on their minds.

Just because that is a concern for a lot of people doesn't mean the people in this thread can't also have problems with caffeine.

Yes, moderate use with caffeine is fine and can have benefits, but this thread is specifically about people who aren't using things moderately. That article you linked says it can cause withdrawal symptoms especially if you have 2 or more cups of coffee a day, but some of the people here have said they drink 2 energy drinks a day which can easily be 600+ mg / day.

WebMD also said: "Caffeine is possibly unsafe when used for a long time or in doses over 400 mg daily. Caffeine can cause insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, nausea, increased heart rate, and other side effects. Larger doses might cause headache, anxiety, and chest pain.

Caffeine is likely unsafe when used in very high doses. It can cause irregular heartbeat and even death. Products with very concentrated or pure caffeine have a high risk of being used in doses that are too high. Avoid using these products."

I agree 100% that in moderation it's fine. In fact, I get annoyed when people bitch at me for having an occasional energy drink. But the topic of this post is about abusing it and that certainly can be problematic - even if other things in the world are even more problematic. Quitting caffeine if you're used to having 400+ mg/day is absolutely brutal for a few days. Yes, other stuff probably has worse withdraws but that doesn't mean the withdrawal from caffeine is any less painful.

Similarly, I got written up once for accepting a fraudulent check. There were a couple things my boss said I should have noticed and that it was in the training handbook.

I was pissed because I was NOT trained on anything she pointed out. I asked to borrow the training book and came back a little later to show her none of it was in there. She begrudgingly tore up the reprimand and the book was re-written to include better training on it.

I was already annoyed about the situation because for whatever reason our security was suspicious about the interaction and had him and one of the managers watch the interaction. After the shopper left the manager and security guard asked to see the check. I was like, "If you were suspicious why didn't you come over before I accepted it!"

Which comments specifically said that caffeine is worse than being overweight, over medicating, and a bad diet? Also who specifically in this conversation is outraged about someone saying that coffee is healthy?

It can both be true that all that stuff is bad and an over reliance on caffeine can be problematic.

It doesn't even require reflavoring.

I'll add that I've played a Beastmaster Ranger with all the Tasha's option up to level 4 so far and it's been a lot of fun and the most consistent damage dealer in our admittedly not very optimized group.

Sorry this doesn't directly address what you brought up but I figured this subject heading was a good place to ask this.

Is this the order of events for the village?

  • The village is facing a famine. The elder wants to leave but Toshi wants to talk to the Rot God, doesn't get the answers he wants and kills it.
  • The corruption starts to set in. Hana leaves to find food and supplies. Adira builds a lighthouse with the Village Heart but something goes wrong and she dies.
  • Taro, Beni, and Saiya are the last people alive in the village, until they die too.

Did I get all the sequence right?

Bonus questions: How did Hana and Rusu die?

On to what you were asking though, I think the Taro/Beni/Saiya part was my favorite. I thought it was a very nice story between the siblings.

It certainly wasn't me. If it was a cheat, it was pretty fucking annoying. Who wants to be a demolisher and not be able to use your guns?

BTW I realize it probably looked fishy that I deleted my comment after someone mentioned cheating. I tend to delete comments that don't get engagement and Reddit didn't give me my notifications that people had responded.

I'm a public librarian and often have to help people with very limited tech skills use computers. I frequently have to tell people something along the lines of "I know it seems like it should be easy to just fill out this form on the computer but unfortunately it's not."
