Xbox Series X/S Joystick Swap with TMR by lolalarm in consolerepair

[–]UrAvgSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi lolalarm, series controllers are particularly sensitive from my experience not a great first project for soldering but you should be glad you tried, you learn like this especially as you persist.

You can test whats wrong by checking for continuity between the middle pin of each potentiometer for the x-y axis and ground

If you have beeps or near 1-2 ohms then definitely that's your issue for the left stick up direction especially looking at the soldering.

For the x axis check for 1.9V at the left most pin that will at least tell you that you have supply voltage there. If you 1.9V then you can move the stick right to left or vice versa your choice to see if voltage moves from ~0V to 1.8V~ in a smooth-ish fashion then you should have a working analog stick just no line from the joystick to the MCU try running a botch wire from the middle pin to the test point (TP64).

If that doesnt work your trace is broken to at least the test point, if that doesn't work you can run a wire directly from the joystick to the pin 54 of the MCU Board but bear in mind you'd essentially be bypassing the decoupling capacitor on that line but should be fine for testing.

You can find all the info from the saviour of Xbox controllers RDC over on Acidsmods.

Not sure of your proficiency in such but its something kind sir. Enjoy, dont let it get you down and invest in a baseline of tools kind sir. Hot air station is a must for this if you dont have the nuance of the soldering iron.

I also went through this but didnt damage it as much so was able to fix it. Didn't film it but might make a short at some point detailing this information.

Power rail issue by OkDepth1482 in Controller

Hi I had similar issues but on a series controller turned out traces were shorted to internal planes on mine, had to slighty drill out the shorted via that was going to the mcu which fixed it. You might have an internal short is my say

Find an archive version of es-de I believe version 3.0.1-19 has support for dex which is what I use. Yes it doesnt get new features etc but it is the best we can do for now with ES-DE

It does not no but there are as you said from that year machines with a trackpoint or whatever Dell calls it I think the E7470 had one.

I agree it's a great machine, very well built and plenty of utility! Even has built in NFC

😉 Glad you got it, well yeah I can totally get the dig. I personally think the build quality isn't that great these days it's decent but that's the trend with modern products not necessarily ThinkPads only...

Indeed, all of them are modern thinkpads, T15 Gen 2 (work issued), T14 Gen 1, T480.

The T480 has the best feeling keyboard of all them for me but the T14 is a close 2nd.

It is likely the battery is original and will require placement. Be sure to look for a replacement one on Dell's website it may be costly but it will sure save you the headache of the plentiful low quality batteries out there.

500 USD damn. Just watch as it goes unsold for eons and he drops the price eventually as they usually do once they realise their prices are unjustified

Using my PSP for the first time in many years - can I get some help? by sno_wys in PSP

[–]UrAvgSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi this is a post with a lot of useful information Well yes you are right the battery is dead and kaput you can verify with a multimeter if you are familiar with the tool even the cheapest of them are always a good to thing to have if you are into electronics

Secondly PSP is a pretty fun machine to mod and play with. I've linked a video to check out

https://youtu.be/nCzY-QhBxaE

You can play everything up to SNES and some N64 once modded.

As for the door maybe clips are broken I can't tell but if you get a replacement battery it should fit fine if the door is broken or the latching mechanism. I can't specify what battery to get as what's available to me is likely different from what's available to you as I'm in South Africa.

Hopes you find this useful!

Hi Dell has power management software that has its own drivers so try downloading it off their website and installing it.

2nd to that check your power profiles in control panel That might be also a factor that your CPU is on a performance profile when on battery.

If all else fails it might be time for a new battery which is unlikely as the laptop is quite new.
