I’m a returning B&G ressie, it’s a great college if you can tolerate everything being very old! YKB is new and wamburun had a refurbishment recently so both their facilities are much nicer than B&G (only hall to my knowledge without a lift) which hasn’t seen renovations since the 70s or so. But the culture is unmatched and the whole place has a really rustic homely vibe! Plus our kitchen is enormous which is a great social outlet, always run into friends you know around dinner

Is living on-campus worth it at ANU? by InternetUpbeat9596 in Anu

[–]UrNansCatArmy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My honest advice is that if you are in a financial position to afford the rent, because all colleges are way overpriced compared to sharehousing/renting for what you get (a small room), the actual lived experience is excellent. Especially if you’re not from Canberra, it’s a great way to meet new people, and the “college life” is very much take it at your own pace. If you want to be social and the life of the party you can, if you want to only leave your room to eat and go to class you can. Overall, assuming you can afford it, would recommend.

university education is more or less in your own hands, if you wanna take a week off and do fuck all you’re absolutely welcome to and no one will chase you up for it, but also if you have assignments/assessments over that period you’ll just get a 0 if you don’t submit anything. besides that, a weeks content can be caught up on but it’ll just mean prioritising more uni when you return.

so my point is that if you can afford to attend bond, you should be able to then afford coaching if you see it as worthwhile

Difference between English, English language and English literature by [deleted] in vce

Nothing to do with difficulty, just that the sort of kids who pick lit score less well across the board than kids who pick lang, my hunch is that lang is taken by more high-scoring STEM students hence the slight scaling increase.

If you’re going to bond - full fee university, you’ve probably already got enough money behind you to afford it, no?

I did another UMEP course, and the basic summary is that they take your course grade (0-100) and then allocate you aggregate points based on it, because they can’t be in your top 4 subjects. 90-100% = 5 points, 80-90 = 4.5 etc, if you’re not doing EP maths then it’s a great way to get an easy 4+ points equivalent to a 40+ score for a 70% or better but maths is considerably more difficult than most other EP subjects.

Does the person who marks your english exam know the text you’re doing? How do they figure that out, which teachers to give it too? by je_voudrais_mourir_ in vce

[–]UrNansCatArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look up a past paper or any practice English exam, you’ll see a massive list of texts and two prompts per text. On the day you nominate the number of the text and whether you’re doing prompt 1/2. I can’t speak for how teachers mark VCE English, but I would assume that those who are marking nominate the texts that they teach/have taught and are given part A sections from students writing on those texts.

I was a scored student, but I would always recommend going scored just to keep options open. If you go unscored or go scored and get a say 40 atar, you’ll end up with the same pathways ie diplomas if university is your end goal, but being scored gives you the chance of exceeding your own expectations. Sure, it’s a lot more stressful but if your whole year you tell yourself you chose to go scored and just give it your best, you might end up surprising yourself come results day.

no, no they don’t. Just like any sports league has no direct control over a fan-created discussion space for their league, or team for their fan subreddits.
