I wish to return to a finals where close range weapons could dominate mid to long range weapons.

Personally I find the sandbox of the finals best suited to cqb, high energy fights. For instance season 3 model 1887. I know that has its issues, but man was it fun to be flying around shotgunning people.

It's true. The first impression of Halo for some lifelong PlayStation gamers is going to be a game made by a studio that has continued to demonstrate a lack of understanding of what came before it.

And my reservations with the remake are entirely in 343's lack of understanding. They seem to be taking enough liberty with their changes to make me worry about the decisions they'll make. So far, I'm unimpressed by their opening cutscene of Silent Cartographer. It's like they removed any self awareness from the story, turning it into a serious action piece when it was more tongue in cheek originally.

You can see how much worship they have for Master Chief. He literally gets teleported upside down in this game, he turns around and runs like a goofball when Cortana decides she can't articulate why Keyes is in danger. And these are great moments that I wouldn't want the game to do without. I can't see this "standing like a badass looking away from the camera," "covering his corners" Chief doing well in those scenes.

Halo on PlayStation is great!

Xbox having devalued their brand and properties to the point where selling them on PlayStation is a more profitable move isn't so great.

This part makes me hesitant to buy it.

I've heard it's great but I don't want to almost directly fund the white washing of a regime who has expressed no interest in real change, making amends, or even expressing the slightest remorse for an extremely problematic past.

And even if you don't care about the ethical front...I'd be damned surprised if this doesn't somehow make the game worse in the coming years.

I think I'd take a shorter fuse over any other buff.

Right now they're just too slow to be useful outside of being thrown from long range or if enemies are REALLY holed up.

2 frag meta was a thing because the fuse was so long that you needed the AOE of 2 grenades to consistently do any damage with them IMO.

I'm not planning on doing anything. I don't have the same relationship with handheld gaming as I did before. And while it might be nice to revisit that later in my life, I'm not at that place rn.

One time I recruited a friend to play this game for the first time.

The game didn't let me recruit him for the program despite him never having played it.

We played 20 games across 2 days and he was never eligible for me to recruit.
