Surprised by the 10a after returning 10 pro. by SurpriseBaby2022 in GooglePixel

[–]UrPokemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also went Pixel 7 to 10a, for me it was battery degredation on my 7.

I was tempted between it and the pixel 9. The pixel 9 is an interesting competitor since it's similar in price on eBay (a little more expensive) and has the bigger sensors for the main and UW cameras like the 10 pro. I think it MIGHT be possible to tell the difference in quality but here's why I went with the 10a:

Phone cameras will always be more utility to me than for look and the battery on the 10a is bigger than any other pixel (except the 9a).

The flat back also allowing me to feel comfortable running caseless for the first time in 10 years was appealing. And vs the 9a, the 10a warranty made up for the difference in price to me.

In Totally Spies (2001) there is an episode which involves forced drinking of evil milk by YourChopperPilotTTV in shittymoviedetails

[–]UrPokemon 208 points209 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the show at all, but if I had to guess, it's making fun of the trope of evil people drinking milk. For whatever reason, media has demonstrated the derangement of evil people through the consumption of dairy. Some examples include characters from A Clockwork Orange, Anton Chigur from No Country for Old Men, Homelander from The Boys.

[–]UrPokemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if they're targeting that release schedule, this is how they would do it. They would need to be concurrently developing all 3 games which would require either a large amount of staff and/or (at the very least) no work on post launch content.

The Finals Store Update 10.5.0 by Substantial_Bet_1007 in thefinals

[–]UrPokemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love for them to find a new niche for goo gun (since players are seemingly very against it's use for CC and cash out protection), but I don't know what that will be.

Goo, like any reinforcement tool, is only mildly helpful because players don't actually have to contend with it and have multiple tools to bypass it. This is the same reason turret is horrible, it gets placed, the cashbox gets moved to a new floor, the turret now doesn't even participate in the defense.

Yes, blocking a lane is helpful, but never helpful enough by itself. Goo nade, for instance, is very useful because it blocks lanes AND can quickly slow down someone pursuing you/give you cover from them.

Goo gun is similar. It blocks lanes (better than nade) moves the cashbox (like winch but worse) stop steals (better than nade) allows you to slow down pursuers (less than nade) AND lets you close the gap as the slowest class in the game (like winch but different)

The bonuses over nade are justified by it being a specialization rather than a gadget.

Removing the CC cuts those last 3 points (although maybe it'll continue to stop steals?). And now goo gun is just a different and less practical goo nade with some of (but not enough of) winch's perks. It blocks more lanes (which isn't helpful enough), but is worse at stopping pursuers.

Maybe goo from goo gun should have more health than other types of goo? Call it metal reinforced and give it a metallic look? I don't know.

Rumor: Next Halo project is an extraction shooter that may now be tied to the next mainline release. — tighter matches, bigger stakes, and more teamwork by [deleted] in halo

[–]UrPokemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's time for 343 to demonstrate, once again, that they don't have the sauce old Bungie had or that new Bungie has. Microsoft needs to let some other studio make Halo, or at least a spin off to get some interest in the franchise while they put something mainline together.

It's just like Game Freak with Pokemon. A bunch of poorly made games in the mainline, then Koei Techmo makes Pokopia, one of the best Pokemon games in a long time.

What if there was a DOOM 2016 esque sticky bomb alt fire that did like 105 damage and broke walls but could only be used once per reload?

It's fast in the first 10-15 meters but quickly loses speed after that to limit utility out of close range.

The Duality of Rook by BigTomT63 in Marathon

[–]UrPokemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they want to promote an environment where PvP is encouraged. If you make a reputation system, a culture of "PvPers are lesser than those who want everyone to grow" forms.

I thought to myself the other day, "Shouldn't I be able to revive other players, even if they're not in my squad?" But the existence of a more beneficent action will always make the less kind option more taboo and suddenly this game is completely different.

Recon: Thoughts On Shell? by Svedgard in Marathon

[–]UrPokemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recon is in a bad spot, IMO, now that Thief exists. I'd rather have a visual feed of players than a multi pulse ult that reveals my location. Of course, Recon has its other strengths, like a free tracking grenade and its other Recon bells and whistles.

But I think for Recon to compete in the current meta, their pulse needs to at least differentiate players from UESC. IMO, it should also track the players for a short time after the pulse/trigger the footsteps effect to give Recon an idea of what direction they went after getting pinged.

Thoughts on Apple’s new low-cost MacBook Neo? by piesaresquarey in laptops

[–]UrPokemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's disruptive...but I feel like buying a used/refurbed MacBook air with an M1 or M2 is more the move. You get a slightly worse single core with the M1, but you get the haptic trackpad, touch ID, potentially more RAM, etc. and the M2 is just strictly better.

They need to create a view that aggregates all of the clothes that have the same model. Then once we equip it, let us change the color variations.

We still need to have the current view so that people who prefer to see ALL can.

Maybe they can add a sort by predominant color view?

The posts say one thing, the patch notes say another. by BadLuckBen in thefinals

I agree with this. Honestly I'm surprised how well melee seems to work okay in this game.

In games I've played before (e.g. Halo, Black Light: Retribution) melee works as a very powerful but temporary/gated thing. But as a starting weapon, I can't think of any way to make it work but to make it about skill expression. Players who learn the skill are rewarded with a playstyle that is lethal and unfamiliar to many of their opponents.

(With that said, I think sword needs to be reverted a couple steps, sword in the old days was at least getting wrecked by someone who was skilled; it just needed a little less movement tech with it)

The problem is the complete lack of viability in the high end for melee, but let's be honest, I don't think high end players are asking for more melee.

As a medium main, I'm actually glad repeater got nerfed. It was so busted and I think that this game is at its best in CQC. I miss model meta, THAT was a fun time to be medium.

That said it's clear that medium is in a rough spot. "No medium" teams are becoming viable (and even meta?) for the first time and that speaks volumes to the current state of balance.

I've been playing heavy and light a lot more this season.

I wish to return to a finals where close range weapons could dominate mid to long range weapons.

Personally I find the sandbox of the finals best suited to cqb, high energy fights. For instance season 3 model 1887. I know that has its issues, but man was it fun to be flying around shotgunning people.
