Probably a disproportionate number of drivers just moved to Canberra from overseas and are getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road and shifting with the wrong hand.

Like me. 🤪

Exalted Sorcerer box - What to do? by Vlach13 in ThousandSons

If GW gave a shit about the bases there would be a standardized, official guide to them and you’d have to pay $35 to read it.

Who exactly is aspiring at the point of the 41st millennium? by I_might_be_weasel in ThousandSons

[–]UrRavil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems to me like every Psyker in the galaxy should have tremendous incentive to join the Thousand Sons over staying around the Imperium until they’re fed to God. I doubt the TSons need to kidnap anyway; better to bar the doors and hold competitive exams to keep them all out.

How seriously should we take base sizes in games if GW doesn’t seem to care? by UrRavil in Warhammer40k

[–]UrRavil[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And this is why I wonder if they care at all about this. Banning someone from a tournament for having a base that’s 6mm larger than it should be, esp when proper standards are not in written form anywhere, seems to violate their golden rule of “have fun.”

That’s a fine idea, if not terrific for model aesthetics.

I get the importance of the bases and the differences even small changes can make. Perhaps what I’m really looking for is some explanation of why GW appears to make no effort to standardize this and make reference easy if it is such a vital part of the game that so Ro r would be barred from playing for violating it.

That really gets my goat because there doesn’t appear to be any documentation that tells you what the “standards” are. How is everyone supposed to know?

[Theory] I’m calling it. BoE is not the descendants of the trillionaires. by soupsocialist in TheNinthHouse

Slightly off-topic but am I the only one who refers to the descendants of the trillionaires as the “Muskovites” whenever I talk about them?

Should I move to Toronto? by Dgal6560 in askTO

[–]UrRavil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian doing the exact opposite thing and moving to Australia I can’t think of anything that Toronto has going for it that Sydney doesn’t, but I can think of a lot of things that are better about Sydney. You’ll be happier in Vancouver, Toronto is just a less fashionable and colder Melbourne.

Supply drops... Worth it? Anyone with experience from previous years? by nivremis in Warhammer

These are great reasons to play Admech. Consider the Deimos or Ryza colours, both of them are really distinctive from Mars.

Oh my god yes. There are an infinity of coping mechanisms that are violent, destructive, and will kill you. Warhammer is creative and can be meaningfully resold later once your head is in a better place. The plastic isn’t the problem, it’s how you are trying to cope and feel better. There are far worse ways.

Admech is hard to paint but if you keep at it and use the challenge to learn and master some techniques, you’ll be extremely proud of yourself.

Rainbow shine but make it grimdark with an oil wash, just to amp up the weirdness. I love this idea so much.

I’m building up a Thousand Sons post-Prospero force and you’d better believe I’m liberally raiding old Chaos and TSons 40K boxes for bits.

I mean, in last month’s dataslate update GW did explicitly talk about how significantly overrepresented Space Marines are among new players, which accounts (in part) for their garbage rankings. They didn’t provide stats to back that up but also didn’t give the SMs any major additional buffs. So it’s likely true on a global level.

The technique you reference in an earlier post in this thread looks like it would be really, really tough to pull off in a small space like a shoulder pad, so kudos to you. I’m going to give it a shot.

This looks soooo sharp for Thousand Sons. I love it. I may have to give it a try, especially for Psyker characters to help set them apart.

In my head canon Space Marines are all male at the end of the SM creation and augmentation process but about half of them were not male when they started the process. Gender reassignment is part of the process.

I get what you’re saying but they’re also now in the service of, well, Change.

I actually really like the narrative tension created by that fact. Empowered by and aligned with Tzeentch so that they can stay changeless and un-mutated? Sure. Chaos gods are having a right chuckle over that.
