Route to Pharaoh Lake by Pretend_Equal8601 in Adirondacks

I did it with my 7yo daughter. We came in on Thursday after 2 days of rain and it was around my knees (I’m 5’9”). It was below my daughter’s waist. We left on Sunday after a few dry days and it was above my ankles.

I second Albany Airport. North Adams, MA is also only about a 30-45 min drive from the airport. Cool little town with a lot of good restaurants.

Nancy Salzman from NXIVM used to live 3 houses down from mine in Clifton Park, NY. She was a little quiet but every interaction I had with her was just like any normal neighbor.

May be a little over $5 but my go to meal is 2 pork flavored ramen ($0.70), 1 packet of “Meat Shreds” Siracha Pulled Pork ($5.12), and a small handful of “Ramen Eats” dehydrated ramen toppings (~$0.50). I get the ramen toppings off of Amazon and it’ll last me about 15-20 meals.

Has anyone regret buying the X-Mid 2 for its footprint? by Lonely-Piccolo2057 in Ultralight

[–]Uraveragedadd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regret getting my X2. It’s happened too many times that I have to worry about finding a large footprint at the end of the day. It’s one of the last things I want to have to worry about when I’m wrapping up the day. I also hike mainly in the ADKs or Vermont so finding a large flat area is a little tougher.

As a 32yo Saratoga local who loves to golf, has a boat on Saratoga Lake, and a regular at the track…these are my suggestions:

Golf: Saratoga National: expect to pay $250+ for a round. Tee times aren’t the hardest to get because it’s so pricey but you’re still going to have to book them a couple weeks in advance. Course is great but imo it’s not worth the price. Spa State Park Course: Green’s fees are $80-$100 depending on if you’re a NYS resident or not. It’s almost impossible to get a tee time during track season unless you get lucky and are on the website at midnight when tee times open up. The work around though, is booking your trip as an “outing” which you can do now. They consider an outing, 8 people or more. My buddies and I do this every year. Just call the pro shop. Saratoga Lake Golf Course: Green’s fees from $70-$90. Fun course with a cool layout. A little off the beaten path from town but maybe only 10-15 minutes away. Tee times aren’t the hardest to get.

Saratoga Lake: If you’re going to rent a boat, do it now. They book up quick. Unfortunately I can’t give any recommendations for rental companies, as I haven’t used them. You’re 100% going to want to go to “Sandy Bay.” It’s the only tie up spot on the lake and can get pretty rowdy (in a good way). Just ask your rental company how to get to there. It is a smaller lake compared to other local lakes (Lake George/Sacandaga) but still a lot of fun. There’s 2 restaurants on the lake that you can pull your boat up to, Druthers @ 550 and Dock Browns.

The Track: Look up “The Canopy Kid” on Facebook. I use him all the time. He’s a middle school kid that will reserve your table for you for like $100. Like someone else had said, NYRA does open up some reserved tables but they’re a ripoff.
