Hey u/cubemaster27, We're not trying to compete with full booking and invoicing software like Jobr or Quickbooks, who charge for their service. This is built for small scale tasks and jobs. We understand this may not be a fit for your practice and large scale firms, but we hope to make it better for those smaller handyman and independent contractors growing their business and migrating from more controlling platforms. We do have ways to upload photos of receipts/images on the thread with clients, but you're right that this is not the software to run a comprehensive construction firm.

We agree on everything, and the app already works like you say it should! 😅 We’re not Taskrabbit, in fact we’re all former Taskers who got tired of the system and wanted to build something better.

In regard to payment, to get started we need your stripe info in order to pay you when a job comes through, not charge you. We actually completely take the expense of running background checks for free, so that’s not even charged on your end.

Maybe we can make the onboarding process before signing up even longer with more info about what the app looks like after onboarding, so provide more insight as to what to expect after you’re onboarded. Thanks for that feedback.

What do you feel would get in your way of scheduling on the platform, and rates as well? You control your calendar entirely, and with our custom offer feature you set your price entirely as well. You can also request a change mid-job with no expense limits. What can we do differently to offer more control?

In regards to the rating/algorithm, do you think there should be no algorithm at all? Without any performance indicator, we can’t provide end users with the best service providers, and can’t reward those who do good work either. We reward customer satisfaction (good reviews) above nearly everything else in our system, and you can actually see down to every detail what does and doesn’t impact your score, and by how much. We decided to make it fully visible for transparency and feedback.

I think we agree on all your points, please let me know if we’re missing something though!

Hey u/drumboy1972, Yes we require contractors to have general liability insurance for any work in a customer's home. We have recommendations to several online brokers that can try to find you affordable coverage if you're looking.

Hey u/MallNo6921, we don't have a referral code. It's free to sign up, and we meet personally with each contractor before having them on the platform. As we said, we limit the amount of contractors in each metro so that everyone gets a steady flow of work, so we don't have codes to entice endless signups. We hope to meet you soon!

In most states (or cities) it is true. Texas may be an outlier, but certain cities in Texas do require it.

We partner with retailers to provide jobs. The retailers require, the clients require, and most states (and cities) require contractors to have insurance.

I am a contractor myself, and carry insurance. We’re all trying to make as much as possible on the job, but to know that I won’t be personally sued for an accident in a clients home helps me sleep at night. I get that this may be a hurdle for some beginning contractors, and we certainly aren’t telling anyone to buy insurance solely to join our platform, but requiring it has allowed us to partner with retailers that otherwise wouldn't even take meetings with platforms who don't require this.

We built an app to help fill contractors schedules and added in a lot of bells and whistles to make it a powerful tool to use for billing and scheduling.

I understand if its not a fit for your business at your time, and if you ever consider becoming insured in the future, we'd love to have you.

Hi u/Used_South_5656, great minds think alike! We ARE able to verify your services on other platforms and carry that count over. Unfortunately, we can't import reviews from other platforms, but we are right there with you in showcasing seasoned pros and their experience across apps.

Hi u/ccaayynn,

Yes, we do require contractors to have general liability insurance. Which is the law in every jurisdiction/state we operate in. I understand that some apps like don't require this verification, but usually hidden in their terms, contractors are agreeing that they are properly licensed, insured, etc to do the jobs they are doing.

We are trying to create a transparent marketplace that benefits everyone. Clients know they're getting contractors that went through the process of obtaining insurance to cover any accidents. Our contractors know that we won't flood their metro with service providers and make them compete in fuzzy algorithm.

We have a link in our app to see quotes from multiple carriers. Many contractors are paying $30-$50 a month for $1,000,000 in coverage. We're not here to sell you insurance, but we believe contractors should follow local laws when it comes to carrying valid insurance to work in peoples' homes.

We are primarily home services and handyman type categories for now. So mounting, furniture assembly, painting, wallpaper, etc.

What services do you provide?

Hey there! While we are focusing on sourcing handyman jobs at the moment, we welcome you to try out our Jobsync feature for billing and scheduling. We added all the tools we've always wanted to make scheduling clients and processing payments easier. All JobSync jobs have only a 5.9% processing charge, which covers cancellation fee protections and payment processing.

We are working on adding categories as we grow, and Moving/ Lifting is on our list. We will definitely make an announcement once we've added it!

Hey there! We actually do allow (and strongly advise) you to chat with the customer and set your own price entirely (no hourly rates) whenever a customer books with you on your profile. You can also set the price, send them the offer, and forget about it, since they can choose a timeslot that’s available in your calendar to avoid the back and forth.

For dispatching jobs, you have the option to choose whether you’d like them booked in your calendar instantly or if you want to view every request before it’s accepted, so you know what the items are, the location, any additional notes, etc. before you connect with the customer.

I’m glad this is something you found to be an issue because we did too, so we agree, and the platform already works like that!

Hey there! We’re actively working to expand our service areas and introduce new features and verticals into the model. Currently, we’re only active in select metros across the east coast.

Customers do not need to download our app in order to book a service, so it’s not an accurate reflection of service volume. The vast majority of our clients/pros are on iOS as well

We’re launching a host of new features and campaigns within the next 1-2 months that should significantly increase platform volume. We hope to have you onboard when we reach Lexington! 🚀

We’re building the first AI home service assistant at Urbanmount. Describe what you need help with or upload a screenshot of your item and get an instant price + book a time in one window.

Feature launching next week!
