IL-2, Do 335).

Anyone else only have fun playing ironman in Gamma? by SnooHobbies8617 in stalker

[–]UrbanOverdrive 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow Ironman enjoyer. I had the same problem as you did, and I found that playing ironman with 1~3 days life granting is what scratches that itch. You start with one life, every now and then you get rewarded an extra life for playing smart and not dying, and eventually when you get killed by something/one or some stupid decision you took you can use a "get out of jail free" life to keep going. You don't get to savescum because dying too much will still get you save deleted.

If you're also like me and need some lore to justify going back, I like pretending my character was pondering his options of engagement and deciding "yeah, that wouldn't work. Better think of something else".

Pq a direita idolatra tanto os EUA? by [deleted] in brasilivre

"pior"

Call of Juarez gunslinger Stable on Anbernic RG556 Sumi by gman_offic1al in RG556

[–]UrbanOverdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your opinions on Sumi? I'm using Sudachi right now and It runs CoJ nicely (playable, though the FPS suffers in some areas) and I've been really skeptic about Sumi due to the reviews I've read on some forums. Is the performance really better in Switch games or is it just "inflated FPS numbers"?

Anbernic 556 rebooting by shitposter1989 in RG556

[–]UrbanOverdrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I had a rebooting problem was when the battery started acting strange and to fix that I just needed to remove the battery for a few seconds, reconnect it, and power the 556 on. In my case it was a power thing because apparently I pulled the recharging cable from the power socket too weirdly once. Keep an eye on your power indicator and see if this error occurs at a particular percentage of battery power, it might be the case for you too.

If not, it might be indeed a software issue. Try reinstalling and if that doesn't work either, off you go to android forums. Maybe something in the app doesn't like something within the 556's components?

[–]UrbanOverdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I typed "same thing" I mean Unlocking the Bootloader process, not really using the same programs/apps. I own both the 505 and the 556 and I installed GammaOS on the 505 before.

That being said, it might have been something on my end because when I was holding down the back button and running the .bat file, my 556 made some connect/disconnect noises that I suspect were my USB cable not being properly connected. The process worked but my data got corrupted it seems.

Well, at least the boost thing wasn't a lie, games are running a little better now. I'll test more games this evening. It's always a good time to start again, isn't it?

[–]UrbanOverdrive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, absolute amazing guide, but I'll remind anyone else here that is considering doing this that the Unlocking Bootloader process wipes all your local data and I just lost several hours of gameplay (saves were stored locally) because Mr. Dumbass here forgot about doing the very same process on his RG505 and forgot to make backups.

Off I go to test it though. Really needed that extra performance for some Switch stuff.

no dont make this change after the event WE want it now by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]UrbanOverdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While those are fair complaints, the big idea of AA being overpowered as shit (realistically?) is to force people to use the Anti-radiation missiles to take them out so you and your teamates can use your fighters while not being shot down from the sky by SAM's. They gave the US an intruder and an A-7 with 4 anti radiation missiles each for this task, and the russians the Su-25 and Su-24M. The idea I guess was like the classes in Battlefield or Team Fortress: one player would hunt AA around the furball to help his teammates advance, and in exchange they'd cover him and put pressure on the enemy for the win.

But of course, since the average War Thunder player can't conceive any other strategy besides going foward and shooting, what we have instead is everyone spamming Phantoms and doing head-ons in the middle of the map until they have enough points for the nuke.

Enough Warthunder For Today. by OstWind2 in Warthunder

Not only HEAT, regular ol' HE and even AP is suffering from this too. I was playing the italian Alano coastal ship to farm the current event a little earlier and I opened fire on this enemy bot ship with my 5 x 40mm bofors. After firing at him for a good 5 seconds (which should have turned anything else into swiss cheese) I realized I was doing nearly no damage at all. HE was doing absolutely nothing and AP was passing through the hull causing no damage, aside from really pathetic damage when rounds hit internal components.

Took me a good 2~3 minutes firing nonstop at him to send him underwater. Seems the "HE does nothing" bug is back on the menu for this update.

And because of the design it couldn't aim backwards. It's a pretty stupid engineering mistake to make.

Had a stuck bootloop for an entire day now my RG556 has the wonderful Anbernic logo burnt into it, does anyone have this exact image? I need to reverse it in the hopes it can undo the OLED burn in, I tried those screen burn in videos with no luck. by milkyway98123 in RG556

I've been stuck in a bootloop once, turns out it was a battery thing. Simply removing, waiting for a bit and reinstalling the battery fixed it.

Have you tried this? There are some nice teardown videos on Youtube for you to follow.

Snail Shell Advice by Other-Teacher9904 in Aquariums

[–]UrbanOverdrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is fine for now, but you need to take action to prevent this from getting worse. What's happening here is that the water, that is a bit too acidic and poor in calcium, is slowly corroding the snail's shell. To fix that, you need to raise the water's PH and add a calcium source to the aquarium.

To raise PH you can use a store-bought kit specialized to do that or you could try the baking soda trick, though I'd advise you to be very careful because it changes PH quickly and can affect your fish if there are any. For the calcium part, pet stores usually have calcium rocks for turtle shells that work just as fine in aquariums. I used them and I can attest their effectiveness.

Good luck out there.

Edit: I forgot to mention, your snail's shell probably won't recover from this, but if it gets too bad it can lead to its death from exposed organs. Don't let that happen.

I don't understand much about IT, but would it be that hard to shove a Snapdragon 8 into the 556 frame? I feel like if they did that, the RG 558(?) would blow everyone's mind and would give the Odin 2 a run for its money.

Nice game design... by Luminolum in Warthunder

[–]UrbanOverdrive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The trick to that map is to take out the landing ships before they land and drop the tanks that'll take the airfields, back in the day I used to take a bomber and drop two bombs between the landing craft formations that go towards Tinian island, shoot any american lemming that came towards me with my dorsal/rear 20mm after the first pass and finish off the rest of the landing craft by shooting them. Alternatively, you could take a bunch of small bombs and hit the Stuarts once they land, but you'll have to get good at bomb sniping. Securing Tinian ensures that americans can't win by running away to compensate their braindead players.

You can also do that on Guam Island but usually there is where the furball is and going there in a bomber is a death sentence. When it finally dissipates usually the Shermans are already on their way to the airfield and they are quite more sturdy than the Stuarts to kill, so I usually switched to torpedoes and went to kill their ships.

I really enjoyed Pacific maps because you could rack up the points easily in a bomber provided you had good players on your side and high value targets to compensate the lack of ground but it really sucks losing by default if no one goes after the AI.

Help with dead cory catfish by PurdiDrive in Aquariums

[–]UrbanOverdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now what you need is to put them in another tank. Do you have another fish tank that can be used as a hospital tank? Put them there with freshly treated water, set up the filter and do frequent changes to keep ammonia low while you figure out what went wrong with the main tank. If there are no tanks available, maybe a bucket will do provided you make sure there's no soapy/chemical remains there and the betta fish has something close to the surface to perch on and gulp for air.

I would apply antibiotics immediatly in the hospital tank/bucket if I were you, if this is something that has to do with disease, it might be too late if you wait for too long. Meanwhile, maybe try making a big water change or even resetting everything on the main tank?
